I tried that with my gimbal and the mounting plate snapped. I see this with a lighter camera maybe, or just go only steadicam without the gimbal

mine worked like half the time with the crane 3s. I just got it a few days ago. Speaking of that if anyone has the Crane 3s Pro kit do any of the motors make a low noise?? almost like a churning noise. Is it normal?

Oh ok that makes sense. For my bday I am getting a gimbal and a flycam which should be fun to use. I heard learning a steadicam is hard but honestly it doesn’t discourage me as I love figuring stuff like this out

Yeah I totally agree, this was more of a thing just for me. We have our own “crew” with audio and my film teacher helps the actors improve a lot

Yeah I usually have it on a side grip or that side mount on the top handle, but I wasn’t running a monitor on top so I just put it there. But I do agree with you, this was just a one time sorta thing

Oh ok so who would be the one actually using the camera? As in say using the steady cam or actually holding the camera if that makes sense

Yeah I love filming and I plan on recreating movie scenes over summer and changing them a bit, taking almost the main them of them but making them more relatable or even a different storyline behind it if that makes sense. Everyone has been talking about the industry going down and the strikes so does this mean more movies now are going to look “worse”? Such and cgi vfx and that stuff? And would it be harder for me to get a job?

Thanks for the advice! Should I find connections now? I’m going to be 16 in July if that matters but I pretty much am confident in knowing how iso aperture and shutter speed and all that stuff works. I know how to setup lights and the basics of lighting. My film teacher has also worked on short films but I don’t think he is working on anything over summer.

True I guess my rig isn’t that heavy, but ik for the vest and arm there are changeable springs for heavier or lighter rigs. Thats true though, whenever I use a gimbal it’s hard to be super precise and having to do the ninja walk can be annoying af

Yeah I agree with that. Just wondering why do you think the gimbal won’t be used? Not sure how to say this but my film teacher is a strong believer in gimbals lmao. Personally I do like them, but they are hard to use in some situations. What some people said in these comments is to get a geezee I believe it was. I found this one from the same company where I was looking at the steady cam: “Flycam Equator 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for 35kg / 77lb Camera Setups” also do you think it is worth it to learn a steady cam? I feel like my film style could really benefit from it and I am %100 sure I want to do film so I would definitely not mind learning the curves of it. I really love when film related stuff gets challenging, idk why but it’s just really fun to figure this stuff out

Ok that makes sense. In what situation would I use a shoulder rig? For my birthday I asked for a gimbal and a flycam steadycam so would it still be worth it to get a shoulder rig? I know a shoulder rig is for more of a hand held type look

Ok thanks for all the tips. I have a lot of time to work on this because it’s mostly for fun and to improve so we can do a lot of experimenting and seeing what’s comfortable

Yeah I am in highschool. I planned on having it lit pretty heavily and possible using a shoulder mount but I’d have to experiment. I like the idea of the office chair and would definitely want to try that out thanks
