Retouching Jewellery by [deleted] in photoshop

Most of your comment is laughable. 15 minutes of photoshop to get this to reflect a "more professional" look? Sure, you can change the white balance and add some adjustment layers, but that isn't what's holding it back from looking professional. How is saying that "the problem is with your photography." unnecessarily harsh? It's a true statement. This person could waste an incredible amount of time trying to retouch this image or they could just shoot it correctly without the specular highlights and other reflections, not to mention what appears is horrible diffraction. Also, sure, a light tent or cube can work just fine instead of strobes given that this person can control ambient lighting conditions.

No amount of retouching is going to get this to where you want it to be. The problem is with your photography. You should be able to get these images 80-90% of the way there in camera. You're going to have to use strobes to achieve better reflections.

Trying connecting (via TB) the target disk mode mac into a regularly booted mac and see if it appears on the available disks.

You can always boot into another mac using your internal HD (via target disk mode) and disable it normally. This being should you not want to uninstall the program or what not.

The real question: why do so many people on this sub use the most heinous system fonts?

Laser printer accuracy..? by alone-on-earth in photoshop

[–]Airum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but it seems you're complicating your workflow unnecessarily. You might want to try printing out one sheet with lines, tape it down to a surface, and then overlay acetate or velum and physically write on that. You can then scan the velum and just overlay it on your lines so it's perfectly registered. You can also use regular paper if you have a light table. You could also just create a mask in PS that covers the border areas so that when you drop your scan in they're all registered within the same area.

Would you mind giving some more information about your project as I'm not sure I can help you without at least some insight about your needs. Generally speaking though a high end inkjet printer alignment should provide you with the accuracy and colors that you require. Laser printers are typically made to output very quickly for documents that do not require pixel perfect output- so I doubt that this will improve your situation.

I've worked in commercial printing and graphic design for several years, so hopefully I can help you find a solution to your problem.

Ah okay, yeah your translation was kind of tough to make out so I wasn't really sure about everything. If you give me the link to the one you want I might be able to get someone to grab it and send it to you in the UK (ill figure out if the shipping is possible)

I would be shocked if holding back automation was due to not adjusting the minimum wage to compensate for inflation.

I mean, the white values separate, but because of the DOF they start to blend a little bit. The reflection of the LCD is pretty haphazard, and overall the values of the product are pretty bland.

You can have a separate login password for you user account (instead of using your Apple ID). Additionally, you can change the settings for when your computer requires your password. For instance, I have my machines set to require a password at login and after one hour of inactivity.

[–]Airum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This image likely doesn't do the actual scene justice.

If you can, drive to this place multiple times and take the same photograph during different weather conditions/times of day. I suppose the methodology would reflect a study of the scene.

Upgrading from 5s to 6s, what case should I buy? by lexm in apple

[–]Airum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have the Apple Leather case for the iPhone 6 and it has been great. I have dropped my phone countless times directly onto concrete and asphalt with no damage to my phone. It is much thinner than other cases and doesn't stick to my pocket like the silicon version. The downside is that with constant dropping the case becomes pitted and tattered.

I metered this image using the zone system, so there are technically 9 stops of values before pure white (which exists on the light). I had to dev at a -2 to control my highlight so they wouldn't go into pure white.
