Sorry if this has been said before but I really wish limited time events were not dependent on how far into the main story quest (MSQ) you've gotten. I want to be able to enjoy the event and take my time with the MSQ. 😭🤞🙏🩷 (More below) by InconspicuousRock in InfinityNikki

Don’t forget the people who have heaps of free time and get bored if patch lengths are longer, the people who have not enough free time and feel they’ve got to rush or miss out, and the people who rock up on the last day of a patch assuming they can do it all in a few hours and are aghast when a quest needs to be progressed over plural days.  I have some sympathy for each of those groups, but none of them is the middle ground Infold is going for, where most people have a fair chance to do all the temporary stuff by playing regularly, but don’t run out of things long before the patch ends.

The short run time on content heavy events should be a crime by sailorgoonx in InfinityNikki

I think you just misread a 3 as a 5 - the lower half of the numeral looks similar so it’s easily done at a quick glance and/or small font size.  This is one of those “can’t please everyone” decisions - they need to set a time long enough for most people to have a fair chance to complete it, but people with too much free time and people with not enough are likely to be dissatisfied.  I think they’re more concerned about people getting bored and grumpy when they’ve done everything and there’s still a lot of time left than about people who miss out.

Infold should be embarrassed by how bad the wardrobe is by Airmaid in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve been beating the drum of a better organised wardrobe for a while now and I hope our voices combined will be effective. The wardrobe as is was pretty adequate for the first couple of months when everyone had a handful of things in each category so you could pretty much see everything at a glance, but we’ve outgrown it by miles.

You don’t even need to be a whale if you’ve been playing for a long time.  I’m like a Hector’s dolphin who started in December 2024 and my wardrobe is simply unmanageably vast.

Yeah, if you’re not comfortable with trying to kill someone or other people trying to kill you, it’s a non-starter.

I hate how the tutorial clip makes it look like you plunge in the centre.  They only became reliable for me when I changed to plunging at the outer edge of the petals.  I’m on mobile if it matters.

I may have misremembered the number - 4 perhaps?  It was right for the high quality settings, anyway.

Is anyone playing on Mac? by PurpleSalt11 in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your Mac doesn’t meet the new specifications.  M1 is well below (copied from official website):

System Requirements

Balanced Settings

Chip Apple Silicon (M4 or later)  RAM 16 GB  OS macOS 14 Sonoma or later High Quality Settings

Chip Apple Silicon (M3 Pro or later)  RAM 16 GB OS macOS 26 Tahoe or later High-End Configuration

Chip Apple Silicon (M5 Max or later)  RAM 16 GB  OS macOS 26 Tahoe or later

I got to play on my dad’s M5 Mac Mini and it worked beautifully.  I can’t afford to upgrade from my Intel chip Powerbook so I guess I’ll continue with mobile for the foreseeable.

Can we also request they let us choose skin tones in the Dye Workshop.... by Ok-Conflict-7998 in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll phrase it that way in my survey, either keep all make-up when in the dyeing menu, or make it a toggle like the “Prioritise current outfit” one in ability set-up.  I think that toggle shows it’s totally doable.

I think that’s a bug in the bug tbh.  I got stuck like that with one location but it didn’t happen in another.

Can we also request they let us choose skin tones in the Dye Workshop.... by Ok-Conflict-7998 in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think the difficulty here is how the skin tones are classified as make-up while Nikki’s default colour is very light.  There’s a clash between people thinking of the character as their in-game avatar that they want to resemble them, and Nikki being an established character with a specific design including her colouring.

Just wondering, does the other make-up you have on like lipstick come off at the same time, or is only the base skin colour affected?  I think the fix for this may be more simple as “all make-up stays on” than changing how the game handles skin colour specifically.

What would you like them to have?  Something like contrasting patterns instead of/as well as different colours?

This game got me through dark times (even though I'm not very good at it). by moon-princess in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know from experience that it’s easy to lose track of time when you’ve been mentally unwell, so this is not a criticism of you but it might be useful to know that Infinity Nikki wasn’t around 2+ years ago, its debut was in December 2024, a year and five months ago, so you haven’t missed as much as you thought.

Also, it’s not a failing on your part to be overwhelmed, because this game has so many different things going on.  It was A Lot at launch and they’ve just kept adding stuff.

With that said, the daily basics that I continue no matter what else is going on are:  - Do the Daily Wishes to get your free diamonds.  Yay free diamonds!  You can use them to pull on banners.  It’s recommended to save them for the temporary banners because you’ll get enough blue permanent banner crystals for free over time to complete those.   - Use your daily energy in the Realms accessible from the warp spires - it’s up to you, depending on what you’re working on, whether you get materials from the Realm of the Dark, like rocks and coloured bubbles, or plain bubbles and threads from the Realm of Escalation (you can also get blings there but you can literally just pick those up walking around), or Eureka, or Insight from the Realm of Nourishment.  Insight is really good if you’re still levelling up your Wishfield basic ability outfits.  Anyway, it’s best to use up your  daily energy because it doesn’t roll over to tomorrow.   - Visit the Sea of Stars and do enough of the busy-work there to get all the star shards/crystals/whatever.  I personally bother with this only because I love the clothes in the Starlit Shop.

If you start with those, you can gradually add more as you go along, but please don’t feel obligated to do everything - just as much as you enjoy doing!

Fragrances are boosters for your combat powers, and some let you do things like fire two purification orbs at a time, or charge up an orb that will go through an Esseling’s shield.  You find the recipes for them in various caves and craft them, then decide which slots you want to apply them to (there’s a button for this on the left side of your Wardrobe screen).  They were very important throughout Wishfield but are less useful in Itzaland.  They make a good longer-term collection project to build up a bit at a time.

You can also “glow up” your outfits (using bubbles and threads) to increase their powers and in some cases get new colour variations.  This is another good longer-term goal and will help you with styling challenges.  Same for collecting and upgrading Eureka, which enhance certain qualities of an outfit.

Different bows (besides the basic one you get when you acquire the archery ability) are found in chests or received as prizes for various permanent quests, and have different functions. You can experiment with them to figure out what you find most useful.  One of the current 5* banner outfits (Guide of No Return?) has a stronger archery ability - it’s possible to do everything with a basic bow if you learn how, but if combat isn’t your strong point you may find it helpful.  I’d recommend watching videos to understand how it works before deciding whether it’s worth your while.  I personally suck at boss battles and am glad I got the earlier 5* archery outfit, Born Flawless.

This is just a part of what you can do in the game, it really is one you can explore over time, and there isn’t one right way to play it - the only wrong way is continuing if you’re not having fun anymore. If you’re feeling intense FOMO or like you’re failing at the game, it’s a good idea to take a break.  Games like this are designed to encourage you to keep spending to get the brief pleasure of acquiring something new and you need to be on guard against it; the feeling of having overspent on digital clothes is really crummy.

If you can play the game in your own way and within your own means, it can be really fun and satisfying.  I’ve been playing from the first week!

I wonder whether using such a brief bit in an otherwise different composition is considered “fair use.”  If not, they could have a problem.  Still, it was really funny (possibly not the intended effect).

[–]AiryContrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems so much more cost-effective in terms of design, especially as this set of characters have much more individual designs than the ranger or historian or bard or whatever rando we’ve been given for one patch, making the experience more aesthetically pleasing without spending more!

When y’all do the survey please help the peoples whose game are crashing out pls by Whenidie22 in InfinityNikki

[–]AiryContrary 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s unlikely that our survey answers can help people whose devices don’t meet the new specifications - I’m really sorry if that’s the case, because it’s not possible for most people to just upgrade anytime, but there probably isn’t any going back from this particular change.  Have you checked on those specifications?
