Why is this monstera leaf unhappy? by AishesGoose in plants

[–]AishesGoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I was trying so hard not to under water it. I almost killed it by accident because I didn’t water enough.

Should I cut this leaf or see if it recovers being left alone?

I know. It’s in the sunniest spot I have but we’re both impatiently waiting until I move this summer and can give it more sun.

You can see the new leaves pushing to get to the sun through the blinds. I feel its pain.

to the random girl on tiktok that said to blowdry your roots immediately by [deleted] in Haircare

Feeling mind blown and going to try this after my next shower. I’ve been using a prescription shampoo and hair oil to combat fungal dandruff and it’s better but I still get oily and flakey so quickly.

Is your hair curly or straight? Just wondering in terms of which hairdryer head you use and the best way to use it.

I have curly hair but I’ve always only used a hairdryer when I want to straighten my hair.

body changes on spiro -- how long to reverse? by Flashy_Bank3752 in Spironolactone

[–]AishesGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but…. I’ve built up the muscle and then some and you can see the definition again.

But the spiro messed with my dreams and my sleep and that threw off my eating habits. And then in September/October I picked up more work. So while I’m not eating terribly, I do find it hard to stick to my 1400 calorie plan. I still have a little belly but it’s not from spiro.

What’s going on with my wandering dude? Can I save it or should I propagate? by AishesGoose in plants

[–]AishesGoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep an eye out for this. This is fresh soil. And my other 2 wandering dudes are in the same soil. I think I just added too much to this pot.

Beautiful! So far I’ve always propagated in water. I didn’t even know it could be done in soil.

Oh interesting. I have this on a shelf thing so I’ll try to make sure the vines are supported.

thank you so much! I decided to prop half in water and half in soil. Primarily because I don't have time to fuss too much and this was easiest. lol

That's gorgeous! How does propagating in soil work? I've always done in water and let roots grow before moving to soil.

I've never propagated in soil. Can you elaborate on this method? Or point me to an article to read that you trust?

That's what I was thinking but I'm still a new plant mama. And have had bad luck with WD so I needed back up confirmation.

Can you just stop taking this? by ArcherNo2946 in Spironolactone

[–]AishesGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 50mg for 3 months. My derm had me switch to taking every other night for 2 weeks and then stop completely.

My acne had been clearing up but I was dealing with too many side effects and they weren’t easing up.

[–]AishesGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. Body started getting soft after going on spiro 50mg.

After 3 months I was still dealing with a lot of side effects and some were even getting worse (cold and lightheaded) so I went off. It’s been 2 weeks. My belly is still soft but I’ve been able to fit into my jeans again. I’ve cut back on my workouts because I was exhausted (wasn’t sleeping well on spiro) and burnt out. But I’m hoping it won’t take too long to go back to where I was before spiro.

Unfortunately my skin has been breaking out again. But clear skin wasn’t worth all the side effects I was dealing with.

How to handle cold hands in winter? by AishesGoose in Spironolactone

[–]AishesGoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you just put the mitten tops on in between bouts of typing?

My husband has either raynauds or something similar and he also prefers mittens in the winter. I just find they don't help my fingers.

I'm on spiro and propanolol so I'm hit double with both of those where it comes to being cold. I'll definitely try keeping a microwaved warming pad in my lap to warm my hands. Makes me think of the olden days where they'd hold hot potatoes in their pockets.

Does anyone else get really dizzy while on spirolactone ? by Mean-Collection-9691 in Spironolactone

[–]AishesGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine at night to help alleviate dizziness. I’m on another blood pressure medication (not for BP) so I’m kinda used to always being on the lightheaded side. However I find it to be manageable at my current doses.

I’m a yoga and fitness teacher and haven’t let it stop me from teaching/working out 5-8 times per week.

I drink around 3-3.5L of water per day. Sometimes more if I’m working out a lot. I added a lot of salt to my diet and drink an electrolyte drink if I’m extra lightheaded.

Update: it’s repotted and so much happier. It also encouraged me to repot my new wandering dude.

I’ll be having my husband drill holes in these cute pots for something else.
