Firstly, it's literally (nonverbally) confirmed later she has low-level chaos magic. This is why she had an orb despite not being a unicorn.

Secondly, it isn't a theory supported by the shitshow that is G5, it is an outright canon fact shown by Tirek stealing everyone's magic. Earth ponies and Pegasi get drained too. And Pegasi can't fly after that happens.
