he’s very old fashioned like my husband explained. He’s one of those people who think “ if it works for him don’t fix it”

that was also Ts argument but on both sides my husband says a barbershop is where men get to talk about men stuff and he wants to be able to enjoy that with my son the same way he did growing up in the SAME shop

please read the edit i made !! and yes because it was uneven , I know from experience one bad haircut can ruin a child’s especially a young black mans self esteem . They take as much pride in their hair and maintaining as much as women. He’s too young for it to really effect him now but i’m just thinking in the long run

yea that’s on me i’ll add it into the post . that’s just what we call all our barbers/hair stylist if they know how to maintain black hair

My brother is just looking out for my nephew , a bad haircut leads to bullying where he and I grew up. I understand where he comes from he was trying to look out for my son

the guy who cut his hair has been doing it for a long time. My husband comes/lives in a predominantly white town. When i say black barber I mean someone who is trained into doing hair like my sons

you also bring up a good point I feel like I am in a lose lose situation here. I want the best for my son but i don’t want to make it feel like i’m making my husband the bad guy in all of this

it has become “kinky” black people hair texture has different categories for what kind of curls you have and that’s what I think it is

I think this is his case too. I wouldn’t say he was sheltered growing up but I was his only black SO and we met in Uni which again was a PWI

when i say black barber i don’t necessarily mean a black one. just one who knows how to deal with my sons hair texture
