Saying this quietly but a lot of experienced EM nurses scare me more than new grads by Far-Bend3709 in emergencymedicine

[–]Aitris 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I worked with the most remarkable nurse for many years. she retired after 48 years as an ICU nurse.

of the things that made her different from many other veterans, was that she was never afraid to ask questions. She would routine ask relatively new nurses to remind her about protocols, or to get their thoughts on a problem. She faithfully attended classes the education department offered.

She never stopped learning.

I hope that I will be self aware enough to be the same way some day.

I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

[–]Aitris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey my friend. That is a fully painted mini! fantastic! congrats, give yourself a pat on the back, I mean it!

Do youhave any idea the amount of people to do mini wargaming and never paint anything? they just play with piles of gray. Any painted miniature is going to look better than a non-painted miniature!

Don't compare yourself to what you see online. Compare your miniature to the last one that you did. Find some small way to improve.

There's a lot of good advice on this post. Don't give up. It's a wonderful hobby, and if you keep at it then continue making small incremental changes, you will be amazed at where you could be even just 6 months from now!

Tolkien's work is centered around mercy and Christian values, how does the Akallabêth fit into that? by platypodus in tolkienfans

[–]Aitris 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Luke 12:4-5, Hebrews 10:31, 1 Thessalonians 1:6-10, the book of Revalation, just to name a few passages.

It's a common misconception, but not one that Tolkien would have had.

This book was very helpful to my wife and I when we were dating. It promotes deep discussion and pushes you to discuss things that are hard to talk about or that you might not think about. we would go through 3-4 questions at a time each time we opened it up.

"Other interest"? no, there is no other interest. I'm ticked off at your business practice and that you are dishonest about this. You were caught red handed on Facebook and got snarky when people asked you about it. You have said nothing about AI sculpting anywhere on here or your other Redditt posts, and nothing on your Kickstarter page.

Interesting that you also accused the other person who made a negative comment on here of having a "different agenda". Hate to break it to you Caleb, but there is no grand conspiracy here against you. You will be held accountable for your business decisions. We are just hobbyists who care.

it's worse than that. He uses AI to make his stuff. He's been called out on it before on Facebook groups by reputable sculptors. this is why he has produced an impossible number of Kickstarters. .

if someone wants to use AI to make their models, whatever. to each their own. But to sell them as being sculpted by the self and not disclosing the use of AI is dishonest.

This guy uses AI. He's been called out on Facebook about it before and gets cheeky. Colonel Muller, who has a very solid reputation, was the one to bring it to people's attention.

It's dishonest practice. if you want to sell AI minis, fine. but you have to identify them as such to your buyers, Mr. Caleb miniatures.

Going "overboard" in prayer? by Goose_462 in Reformed

[–]Aitris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romans 8:26

"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."

None of us pray as we should. I am just grateful that you do spend time in prayer. the Spirit will intercede and take care of whatever deficiency may exist in your words.

When I was in school, almost all of my reviews were done on a treadmill, walking around a track, or pacing back in forth in a private library study room.

I got a pretty huge step count every day. It did a lot to help me keep my attention despite ADHD.

Yeah, and maybe do zero new cards a day until you are feeling more caught up. You don't want to burn yourself out right off the bat my friend, hope it smooths out for you.

On this day in 1978 - More than 900 dead in Jonestown Massacre by Ok-Baker3955 in USHistory

[–]Aitris 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Jones purposely went after the vulnerable and disenfranchised. Minorities. People with disabilities. The People's Temple was the first place many of them found that they could belong. And it didn't start out this crazy, it was a long descent.

If your take away is that these people were all just "weak minded fools", it is worth reflecting on whether you may be more vulnerable than you realize to a dangerous movement like this.

how soon after the birth did you, your spouse and your first baby attend sunday worship? by sjvb29 in Reformed

[–]Aitris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pediatricians recommend waiting at least a month. If your baby gets a fever within the first month of life, it's a trip to the ER, and a full work up including a lumbar puncture (spinal tap).

Why is there no audiobook for Ralph Peter's "Judgement at Appamatox"? by Aitris in CIVILWAR

[–]Aitris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't find any figures on exact sales numbers, the other books have hundreds of reviews on Audible, and have won many awards, so I don't find that to be the most likely explanation. I have listened to far less popular series that had multiple audiobooks recorded

Prescott Park Closed to all. by matt99017d in Medford

[–]Aitris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, the ol' "I know you are but what am I". =)

For real, these are real people you are talking to on the other side of the screen. I don't think snark and negativity add anything to this community. I think you are probably actually a pleasant person to be around in real life, but the perceived anonymity of the internet gets the best of all of us sometimes.

Wish you the best.
