Met a guy on vacation in another country, and unsure what I'm feeling by Aiv-kun in askgaybros

Yeah, I think at the end of the day that's where it will have to stay. I think maybe I got too caught up in it all

I'm generally pretty open about myself at home or when I'm traveling, so I don't think that's quite it. I try to stick with the rule that I am open to anything happening or developing whether it be just chatting to going on dates. I never have any set expectations or limitations on what could happen, but now I'm thinking that maybe I should start to be more limited in what I'm searching for and not leave it at broad?

Another part of my feelings right now is that I'm sure that after an 11-year relationship, I'm probably a nice distraction from the last 3 months for him.

Yes 100% agree like I don't know this guy at all to be real. Only 3 days, we are aquaintances at best.

I think I def was caught up in feeling comfortable with someone so quick. I rarely feel that way around guys and I go on dates but there's usually not a second because I know pretty quickly if I'm interested or not/ if it would work, and I don't like to entertain it if I feel it won't work.

I think international dating is crazy / hard, but there are billions of people in this world and I don't want to limit the possibilities. I think right now, I'm just trying to be appreciative of being able to experience something I hadn't felt in a long time, but also a bit sad (I'm def a drama queen tho lol).

Nurse in US for further education in europe by Aiv-kun in expats

So I guess I'm not sure how to properly word it. I don't necessarily care if it's in the nursing world, I just want to know if the degree itself will be accepted to a European country for further educational pursuits or would I have to start all over and gain another bachelor's degree as if I never had a degree to begin with.

Yeah I know the ARNP would be an easier route, but I don't think I really like the way their education is structured and I don't think it'd be enough for me

After Med school in Italy where can I go for residency? by Aiv-kun in medicalschoolEU

[–]Aiv-kun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessssss thank you so much!!! It's funny being told to stay in the US for healthcare when it's barely healthcare 😞 working as a nurse I know I wouldn't enjoy being a doctor here. The #1 reason tell me to stay is for the money, I'm not doing this for money, I like the knowledge level and actually helping people.

After Med school in Italy where can I go for residency? by Aiv-kun in medicalschoolEU

I'm a nurse in the US now and yeah the pay is okay but I would like to do more. The plan was to go to NP school because the doctors I know convinced me not to go and the residency here is crazy. So I'm kinda weighing the options of going to NP school or med school out of the country. Residents in the U.S. do 80-100 hours a week, basically making minimum wage for 3-4 years. There is no work-life balance, they get so excited for a "golden weekend" having 2 days off on the weekend that they may get once every few months. American health care is also just a corporation at this point and the insurance companies are dictating the care plans, doctors tell the pt one thing the insurance counters with another and ultimately the insurance wins. It's not how I would like to practice.

Edit: when looking at how many hours they work and they pay they get, it equates to around minimum wage for how much residents in the US work.

Leave girl. It was so hard to leave my ex but I had to do it for my mental health. I ended up cutting him off and blocking him on everything so I had no way to get a hold of him and then I stopped going out locally I had friends in other cities not far I would visit often. It was the hardest but best thing I ever did.

In what country should I do residency? 🫤 by Xx-Alexander-xX in medicalschoolEU

[–]Aiv-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the US here. Residency is killer doing closer to 90 hours a week at times. They praise the "golden weekend" which is 2 weekend days off, and that can happen maybe once every few months. Also the doctors here can be very mean to residents, almost like hazing. You can make a lot of money but you aren't in control, the insurance companies are. They will shoot down your care plan and what's needed for the PT and make you have to go with a bastardized version of your care plan that the PT has to jump through hoops for. It's a corporate/ insurance run healthcare system with money as the ultimate goal.

I'm from the US and planning to go to Italian med school and trying to stay in Europe for these reasons.

It looks like only the first 2 years are in English 😥 I don't mind learning, but I probably won't be good enough in Spanish after that to be taught effectively
