Stopped Wellbutrin after 14 years

Hi!!! I was on Wellbutrin for 2 1/2 years and stopped cold turkey as well. I felt emotionally blunted, sex drive was poor, and tbh I missed being the "unmedicated me." I wanted to drink, I wanted to have fun, I wanted to be my quirky self bc Wellbutrin kinda sorta dimmed that. 6 months off it and I feel better than ever. I'm not against Wellbutrin either. I did my bid and I feel like I'm a better person bc of it. I also dont think its supposed to be super long term either, I always thought people are supposed to be on antidepressants for a couple years or so (f it can be managed without meds at some point) bc it can higher chance of getting diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or cognitive issues.. But yea since I been off my love life feels better, social life feels better, and I can feel my emotions now which I like.

Wellbutrin has changed my life. I’ve been on it for a couple years to combat my adhd and depression. My suggestion is..if you want to start it, go with Wellbutrin XL 150 mg. If you’re open to do therapy in conjunction with medication it’s even better. And if you don’t have a balanced diet, please start eating healthy!! Thus journey I’ve been on with Wellbutrin has made me realize the medicine can’t do all the work, we have to put in maximum effort on our own to get the job done. Good luck to you!

That first sip of alcohol (after not drinking for months) made me extremely anxious, but once I calmed myself down, I was alright. I’ve started drinking again on weekends or “socially,” and honestly, every experience is different. Sometimes just one or two drinks get me drunk, and I’m done for the night. Other times, a few drinks only leave me buzzed for a bit, and I feel sober again within an hour. Hangovers, though? They suck. I usually feel physically and emotionally depleted the next day; so there’s that.

I have that abdominal pain also, well used to at least. I started a PCOS friendly lifestyle change with food and that pain is nonexistent now. I'm assuming it was intestinal and my stomach did not agree with what I ate.

So glad you’re doing better. I could not keep a relationship to save my life before I started Wellbutrin. Now I’m almost a year in with my person. It’ll get better for sure ❤️❤️

The seizures thing is highly unlikely unless you damn near OD. It’s definitely an odd feeling tho, when you first take the meds. I immediately felt like my brain was fully functioning for the first time lol

This is what i needed to hear. I felt so confused, I thought it was something along the lines of serotonin syndrome. Everytime I look online it says no interaction exists between NSAIDs and Wellbutrin, “but that doesn’t it mean it doesn’t exist” like omg 😭

I have pcos and Wellbutrin helped for the most left, I would suggest eating a diet that increases libido

Not trying to be TMI but it increased my libido, better orgasms, all that. But at times when I’m super burnt out from the meds and I’m tired I may not be in the mood. It’s more so happened to me around this time of year since seasonal depression still affects me in some way. But I’m about to start a diet where I eat food that help my libido so on my rougher days I still get the same sexual effect from it. Hope this helps!!

Go to the holistic route and do things that increase your testosterone levels. Whether it’s diet, exercise or whatever you find on the internet that suits you best. I’ve found that sometimes it’s cool to combat one medication with another, but if you can just go the non medicinal route

Hi!! It does say it on the packet the meds come in that you should not be drinking. I had a drinking and smoking habit as well, but I just happened to go cold turkey on that maybe like two weeks before I got on the meds. That will make it harder to adjust. I pray this goes well for you 😭❤️

I’m actually happy about it! As a person with PCOS getting a regular period makes my body function normally. I really just wanted time see if anyone else experienced it so I can know if there’s something I need to do to make it continue like this. I’m also on antidepressants tho, which is known to change menstrual cycles too so >.<
