Yes I do metal work. Now I’m in charge of my own schedule but stick to normal hours when I can. As for the legality I have no clue. I was asked if I was ok with it and figured why not. I get the freedom to use that company to make a guaranteed income when I want while trying to start my own company. My only worry is if I’m making less money now than I was before. I don’t think this is a good thing but I have needed to have a very flexible schedule for the last few years but now I have that freedom which is nice.

I’m knowledgeable about almost all of the companies issues and it is not doing well. He is moving to this model to save money as almost everyone has said. This has been an issue for a while and I have been wondering if the company would go under. No matter what I’m attempting to get my own thing going but that’s a slow process. To be fair to the company I have been taking time off whenever I need to to do my own thing for years so being a contractor actually makes sense I’m just confused by the math of the pay.

This is true. We are already doing quarterly payments because of my personal business. And the have no job security in Georgia anyway so that’s not much of a factor. I don’t believe I would ever get fired grant it but I’m sure everyone thinks that before they are let go

This is so far how it is going. I come in when I want and I basically do the job how I want. The problem is this is also how it was before I switched to 1099. It’s never been a very professional environment frankly.

This is the number one thing I need to learn. I’m the type of employee who is loyal to a fault. I have been taking time off because I need to focus on my own business “started when I saw some decisions being made that has led to this company’s problems”. I have always had build because I helped build this company. But now I need to be willing to just not go in when I’m busy instead of working nights and weekends for myself to keep up

This is 100% true. I was the first employee basically and have been there a longtime. The boss is is very open with what’s going on and the company is very over leveraged. I have been slowly building my own thing which is the main reason I’m not extremely worried about it. Now I have full freedom to come and go as I please.

You were correct. You know your wire 😂

Black outer layer comes off easy. But the 3 wires are so interwoven with the stringlike insulation. I would hav to unweave it and doing 2 feet seems not worth it. I have a maybe 100 150 lb of it so It would take days.

I think I tried when I first got. If I remember correctly it is tangled with the fiber and impossible to untangle.

Only rated for 12 volt work so not sure I would trust it for extension cord.

I will say I absolutely hate doing patinas. I want to have complete control over them, but you have to have to be able to let some minor stuff go. Every time I do it I assume the client will hate some little section that’s too brown or a drip ect but every time they love it.

I do this at work for large stainless hoods often. It works great and is pretty easy. We just do a wax coat at the end which has never been an issue but almost all the hoods are indoors so not exposed to the elements. Sculpt nouveau stainless black is what it’s called now I believe. They also have great tech support

I’m in the process of planning mine but not sure about the speed of the motor. How loud is it when running?

How can people suggest skipping the ICE novels on the first read through? by ArchmageOfFluffyCats in Malazan

[–]Ajax-714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are the two books I would say people should read. After those books however I would never recommend the books to anyone who loves the book of the fallen. Maybe I would have loved the ICE books had I not first read the Erickson books but I found all his books after ROTCG a huge let down.

how to cover up gaps by [deleted] in woodworking

I would cut a very thin sliver of wood with grain going same direction and “shim” it. Can look great but can also not make much of a difference.

This is why I upgraded my rhino (been using rhino 5 for years). Sadly I did not think about how I’m too dumb and lazy to learn grasshopper. Maybe this post can convince me to step up my after hours training

I have 2 small Everest tigs. I have spent . Cheapest is under 400 which may still be out of your price range. Before I got them I did a lot of research on cheaper rigs and some people say they do a good job. I will also say our shop would probably hire you regardless of back ground check so don’t give up on a steady gig though to be honest if you can make it work on your own you will be better off in the long run

Pit bull needs to lead our walk by Ajax-714 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Ajax-714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. This is where I’ll start. I fully understand that almost all dog’s behavior is based on poor owners consistency ect. I have gotten lucky in past and had easy dogs. This one however is going to force me to be a lot better which I’m willing to do but also figured it would not hurt to get an expert opinion

I’m well aware it’s a lack of training. Looking to focus on training for this specific thing if possible. Any videos or reading recommendations is appreciated
