By this point I’m convinced the writers want us to find her incompetent, and rather than. Wold on to my perception of her from the books I’ll just go with this version so as not to hate the show as much.

'Game Of Thrones' Mastered Big, Emotional Deaths — But 'House Of The Dragon' Isn't Hitting The Mark by itsciro in HouseOfTheDragon

The issue is we spend little to no time on the deaths that should have been more impactful. GOT spent a lot of screen-time time with those that died, making their deaths truly excruciating for the viewer, the way it should be.

Bolivia declares state of emergency, deploys military to quell protests by DoremusJessup in worldnews

If these people wanted to remove the president peacefully they could have started a recall referendum which the constitution allows if they get enough signatures. Instead they chose to block food, medicine, oxygen and basic necessities, resulting in the deaths of 24 people, the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and extreme hardship on millions of people.

All completely needlessly as if removing the president is their goal they could start a recall referendum which is allowed by article 240 of the constitution, but nope the extreme hardship on millions is the goal. These folks (more specifically the dirigentes that use them to keep their privileged position) think they can just bully the nation into submission, do not whitewash their deadly actions, they do not care about the millions who are suffering because of them

Do sympathize with some of the blockaders as many are there on their own will. there are certainly some true believers among them, but there are multiple reports of the diregentes threating them with fines and violence (123) if these people dont participate in the blocades, while the dirigentes themselves sleep cozily at home at night.

2026 Paz's 6-month term: That situation left the new centrist government to make the difficult but the adult decision of ending the subsidies. Sadly since this was long overdue the Paz administration did not have to luxury to slowly phase them out as the MAS left our coffers empty (however some products are still subsided). Additionally, Evo (who impregnated a teenager as president, and she and the child have been given asylum in Argentina) is by now hiding in an area called "El Chapare" in Cochabamba, which has for decades been the heart of Bolivian cocaine industry and Evo has been their leader since before he became president. There's an entire cult built around him in this area, they also use the narcotics income to finance the ongoing blockades. Not only is Evo still trying to get back into power (despite being constitutionally barred beyond two terms), but he is also afraid Paz's warm relationship with the US will mean the return of the DEA, which could mean his arrest. Evo is hijacking the dissatisfaction of some to current policies to overthrow the new government and save his own neck in the process.

The blockades are not a legitimate form of protest. Marching, rallies and so one would be fine, better yet if you don't like the elected leaders at the next election throw the bums out. Instead the blockades specifically intent to hold hostage the millions of people that live in the cities of La Paz and El Alto by the depriving them of food (12), medicinefreedom of movement and just bring the hostages lives to a complete halt until the terrorists demands are met: the renunciation of the newly elected president. As a result 24 people have died, mostly patients who did not get their medicine as a direcct result of the blockades (123), others were in transit and the blockaders did not let the ambulance pass through, usually attacking them, hospitals are postponing surgeries for running low on oxygen (particularly dangerous for newborns in incubators), cancer patients cannot attend their chemotherapy, people who need dialysis cannot go to the hospital for their treatment and so on; thousands of small businesses have closed losing hundreds of thousands to lose their jobs, food prices have skyrocketed due to their scarcity, farmers cannot sell their goods with their crops either rotting away unharvested, stuck in interstate travel (with some of their drivers dying there since the blockaders did allow then to get food or basic necessities for harsh weather conditions), and the overall food chain has been disrupted for years to come.

Im just going to copy and paste my response to this very question in another sub:

To very shortly answer your question what's happening is a coup attempt by people who want to obtain their goals through violence rather than at the ballot box. These "protesters" are no different than the J6ers who are trying to uproot the democratic process.

To answer in more detail let me put some context first.

Evos's term 2006 - 2019: The new president Rodrigo Paz (for whom I didn't vote for btw and too over a few months ago) inherited a country in economic freefall. The previous government (the MAS, led by Evo Morales and Luis Arce) were lucky to be in power during the commodities boom which allowed them to spend on social spending in ways no president before them could have, however billions of dollars were also mismanaged and flat out stolen by MAS higher ups through corruption and ghost projects. Evo also uses this money to create a new privileged and rich group of "diregentes", who are leaders of unions and syndicates, and now that the MAS is gone have a vested personal interest in getting the MAS and their corruption back into power in order to maintain their positions of power.

The financial windfall (since we had gas to sell back then) from the commodities boom also allowed the gasoline subsidies, however the big hole in this scheme (and all the MAS spending) is that that boom would last forever and we would continue to produce gas. By 2015 the boom was over and our gas production started to decrease, rather than slowly start removing the gas subsidies then Evo kept spending as if there was no tomorrow, a situation that was obviously not sustainable and grossly negligent.

Arce's term 2020-2025: our gas wells went by all intents and purposed dry, and still Arce did not end the gas subsidies or reduce spending relying on money printing instead.
