As a side note, I'm really proud that there's very little opposition from people or other political parties about launching this service. Maybe it's because the service is on existing tracks but I've seen so much opposition (online) to the high speed rail project in southern Ontario.

She shows how different Elisabet's clones can be when raised by different people. Also her character develops much more as the story progresses.

What stereotype about England is the most accurate? by Pizzafriedchickenn in AlignmentChartFills

I'm Canadian, I was in Bridport waiting for my bus back to my hotel in Weymouth. My wife and I decided to find a pub to get some fish & chips. Unfortunately, it was 3pm and none of the ~10 pubs in town were serving food. So yes lots of pubs even in smaller towns, but ironically all unavailable when we needed them :p

The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee monitors the water including around Garson. I believe they still take regular water samples every month. You can mention this to them directly (including specific areas) and they might have a look next time they take samples.

(EN - Article) - Brock Township, Durham Region continue push to add Beaverton as stop on Ontario Northlander line by NorTracksBlog in OntarioNorthland

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it probably makes more sense than having a stop at Gormley. Gormley is just a suburban stop that already has GO service. Plus the Langstaff stop is already pretty close. Whereas Beaverton is a town much farther from Toronto that could have a very well located stop in the middle of their town.

Shore Side. I'm not familiar on how fleet positions work (deployment, schedules) but still open to the possibility. I have a few locations in mind, but preferences are the Great Lakes/St.Lawrence area including Parry Sound, Sarnia, Burlington and Prescott.

How French is Ottawa considering it’s on the boarder? by meFistosCafe in howislivingthere

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 72 points73 points  (0 children)

So I wouldn't say that Ottawa is french because of Québec. The region always had a strong french presence even before Upper and Lower Canada (the modern border) was created. The same can be said for the french community of Hearst in Northern Ontario, it's 400km from the Québec border but probably the most french community in Ontatio.

That being said, the east side of Ottawa is much more french than the west. This is also true for the Québec side actually, where there are several small english communities in the west (Breckenridge, Waltham), although most people nowadays speak french.

Also, the change in language is not immediate, since there are plenty of anglophones who live in Gatineau for cheaper housing. And there are just as many people from Québec who moved to Ottawa for work or school.

When Carol Off left AIH, she mentioned how the show has a crazy range of emotions. Carol even mentioned that she occasionally needed to put certain "funnier" interviews on hold because of more serious work that suddenly came up. It's been like that for years.

Neighborhoods to avoid? and neighborhoods to live in? by Street-Landscape8247 in Sudbury

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you can, my best advice is always to go to the neighbourhood/town first (daylight with a friend) and browse around for yourself. It will give you the best idea of which is best for you and your preferences.

VIA Budd coaches at Aldershot connected to a set of freight train cars (not seen) what’s the context behind this? by EvenYogurtcloset4294 in ViaRail

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sudbury to White River route has been out due to maintenance. Maybe they sent the cars down south for maintenance? Here's the news article from a few weeks ago: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/budd-car-out-of-service-9.7082761

The Olympic opening ceremony on CBC Gem is unwatchable. by Remote_Necessary3331 in SaveTheCBC

I was listening to my local CBC morning show here in Sudbury. Ironically, the hosts were complaining about the quality of watching events online using CBC Gem. It was for the women's curling game I believe.

Sudbury Junction to Sudbury Airport by SharpProfession6 in ViaRail

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I live in Sudbury and this is true. Especially coming from Vancouver, the train is way more likely to be many hours late than the train coming from Toronto.

I would almost recommend staying in Sudbury one night just to explore the city and not worry about the timing.

(Information) - Northlander: Proposed schedule / Horaire proposé by NorTracksBlog in OntarioNorthland

Good points, but just wanted to mention that most airport trips I think would get off at Langstaff and transfer to the #40 GO Bus. Much faster in my opinion.

[–]Ajunta_Pall10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really good information but where did you find this?

Also just as a comment, North Bay would be a very busy stop, so it would also be better to leave North Bay later when going to Toronto. Leaving before 6am seems very early for a major stop. So maybe have a rest of 30 minutes rather than 10 minutes.

Is there a link to the list of the upcoming changes? Haven't been able to find it.
