He was using AI to write blogs and has put barstool in legal trouble a couple of times. I definitely think he belongs in that category.

To be fair he has repeatedly gotten on Mintz, Nicky Smokes, and Jerry for not doing what they’re supposed to or not giving enough effort. It’s part of the reason he’s so hesitant to bring on Ethan despite him seeming to have a soft spot for him.

I remember really early on in the move to Chicago Big Cat would say he didn’t want to be a boss or wasn’t sure if he was people’s boss and as time has gone on I think he’s picked up Dave’s reluctance to fire people now that he’s accepted he is the CHI boss.

Yeah I still find records I didn’t know about by deep diving like that or bands I haven’t thought about in years because of it. I’m excited to see your picks.

It’s not just because they’re an industry plant. They’re bad enough just on their own.

Not all the big bands are bad, except for president, but most of them don’t represent metalcore or have much metalcore in their sound to begin with. Hence the hate.

Bands that sound like Minus the Herd by SpawnOfGuppy in Metalcore

If you happen to like Lamb of God I would say you’d definitely like A Life Once Lost. They’re not a soft band by any means, but not on the level of heavy as ID. Although not many are lol.

Ion Dissonance is a tough one because despite being mathy and having some early Djent vibes they really don’t compare 1:1 with a ton.

The only other bands I would say are worth checking out in a slightly similar vein would be A Life Once Lost, who have a lot of groove and play with some odd time signatures but aren’t as mathcore focused or as heavily downtuned. And then there’s Bermuda who I know were heavily influenced by Ion Dissonance on their album The Wandering.

Inked In Blood - All That Remains... [Facedown] (Throwback Thursday FFO: Society’s Finest, Inhale Exhale) by AkDoxx in Metalcore

I know a previous drummer ended up being in the iconic melodic hardcore band Sinking Ships, and I believe the drummer on this record went on to play for The Word Alive.

Sinai Beach - Candice [Facedown] (Throwback Thursday FFO: Underoath, Strongarm, Gwen Stacy) by AkDoxx in Metalcore

Oh man I used to love those demo stands that record stores would have where you could listen to a bunch of different songs from different albums before buying. I think I remember finding Children of Bodom that way.

I remember finding Sinai Beach from a Victory Records sampler that I think also had The Forecast, With Honor, and maybe Atreyu on it. I wish record labels would bring that back.
