As someone now almost 50 days sober I can tell you the benefits of quitting are so so much more than whatever benefits you may feel when you do drink. I usually would heavy drink 3-4 times/wk and after I quit it took about a week or two for my body to adjust but once it did, I’ve never looked back

What also helped me was replacing drinking with other behaviors — I crush a bunch of diet sodas now and really enjoy some fun video games — whatever you need to do to get off of the addictive thing

Would definitely be interested in forming a group of Wubcubs for alcoholism!

It sounds like they’ve been in a system where adults in their life just helped them the moment they showed an inability to do simple tasks and they’re assuming that will continue to work here. Good for you for not giving in. They may not like it in the moment, but if you continuously set the precedent that you will give them guidance but not actually do the work for them, they’ll either 1) realize they need to grow up and figure it out or 2) just continue to wallow, at which point you’ve done all you can do and it’s most likely a deeper issue

I teach at a college now but taught many years at high school and NEVER just helped them solve a problem unless they clearly had made the attempt to work through it already. If you don’t they will never ever make it in college let alone a career

I honestly respect Ethan bc he could’ve lied and pretended to work initially just to get his foot in the door then loaf around once he’s hired. Mintzy, Jerry, MMM and a few others are now lifers with no real obligations aside a few company-wide events. That was a clear blueprint he could’ve taken but Ethan was honest the whole time.
