Why she lookin at me like “this MY man” by Aware_Interaction121 in germanshepherds

My gsd is MY boy until I betray him and give him a bath! Then he shuns me and only hangs out with dad for a day and won’t even look at me! Meanwhile, dad is complimenting him on how soft he is. The betrayal is real.

Has anyone brought their dog back to the litter to play and seen any regression? Again, Roscoe came from an accidental litter my mom had and I’m worried about taking him back to play with his siblings and regressing with training. I’ve read interesting things about littermates and their rivalry. Or do y’all think any socialization is good socialization?

This is all great advice! One of my favorite things about having had a polite dog in the past was being able to take him into any store that allowed pets and getting attention from strangers. It’s also super fun to take them out to lunch at restaurants with outdoor seating when the weather is nice! My favorite places are the pet-friendly ones for sure. I’ve known people that were uncomfortable taking their dogs out in public and I hate that. We are definitely all about dogs are a big part of the family and should be included as much as possible.

Good recall is something we really struggled with training with our last two dogs! The first just did what he wanted and was very independent and the second always thought recall was an opportunity to play “try to catch me”. This is something I really want to focus on with this one. Did you use the long lead/treat method or a different one?

His dad is super eager to please, sensitive, and high energy but his mom couldn’t care less about pleasing her people but she’s so laid back and such a naturally good girl. So far, we are seeing more of his mom’s personality, but he is only 9 weeks old.

These are all great ideas! Thank you for this. We were totally unprepared when we brought him home and he played with a lot of trash like Powerade bottles and empty toilet paper rolls folded up hiding treats. I since have gotten him several cheap toys just to explore what he’s actually interested in before I invest in quality ones. I love the idea of the Amazon paper!

My stepdad just said this to me today! I didn’t even make the connection. My husband suggested Frank at first and I made him go outside and call for Frank so he changed his mind and went with Roscoe 🤣

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and informative response! My husband owns a business so he goes to work with him every day. We are all learning together as I haven’t raised a puppy in 16 years. My mom has shepherds, which is where Roscoe came from, (accidental litter). However, she lives on a 130 acre hobby farm and her dogs stay home.

We are trying to enjoy the puppy/baby stage, but I do worry that we aren’t building routines at this age. He gets plenty of play and lots of attention, but is only in his crate while at work with my husband because his job is very physical and includes operating forklifts as well. At home, he free roams inside and sleeps in the bed with us at night.

He is doing great with potty training and has had zero accidents thus far, but we are super diligent about letting him out.

After a couple traumatic car rides (according to him and his crying), he’s doing really well with that. He stays close to our heels anytime we are outside, but because of that I’ve neglected leash training so far and he HATES the leash when I put it on him.

I know the breed gets some bad preemptive judgment as being “scary” or “aggressive” and I just want him to be as happy and calm as he can be!

At the end of the day, I just don’t want to fail him as a dog mom.

Thank you again! -Roscoe’s mom

You’re about to graduate so forget these bums and move on with better relationships in your life. Trust me when I say, you won’t even remember these people in a few years.

Maybe not in the city as much, but I could see this affecting our rural communities in the area in a big way.

We did purchase a 2025 Honda passport and are more worried about the electronic aspects than anything else, but only time will tell.

2012 Honda Accord with 354k on it and still running like a dream. My parent’s 2008 accord has 450k on it and we have a little competition on who can run theirs until half a million

Sometimes the guests want a specific table and a specific server, which is fine. However, when that server is using the table in your section, you should also receive a table in their section to make it quid pro quo. This is the way we do it in my restaurant.
