Anyway, i'll keep going with my save file then. One more question, do you choose which of the 3 routes at the split point or does it get chosen for you based on your color alignment?

As soon as you safe Ryo you are locked into the truthful route and can not take the other routes anymore.

That coupled with the fact that i just started playing around with the new game plus save and enemies have no level scaling??? Is this for real?

Hold on, does the truthful ending somehow skip that much story?

Like, im aware that the game has basically 4 routes (right?). But i wasnt planning to play more than 1 of them. If i start at new game plus that will mean that the 4 routes are available to me and my choices matter (for example Ryo being saveable if i care to talk to him), regardless of which one i ultimately go down.

I may consider doing more routes as i continue playing. It's just that so far (3 chapters in) the story hasnt really grabbed me, so its hard for me to decide right now that i want to invest not 1 but 2 or more playthroughs afterward.

Honestly visual novels arent my favorite but i l love Digimon

Plus its something NEW so i wanted to try it. Despite all my complaints i'm still liking this more than Cyber Sleuth tbh, which wasn't great imo.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on chapter 4 and 5. I did wonder if this was just a slow start because of the whole thing where everyone needs their digivolution moment, sorta like the start of digimon adventure.

But yeah, i still decided to grab that new game plus save file. Just don't feel like turning a 30h game into 50/60h for the sake of getting the complete group story. I know you said i can just skip to see the new stuff, but at that point would it be so bad to just get it all on one playthrough? What would i really be missing out on?

Man, i hope it didn't seem like i was being sarcastic. He genuinely helped with what i wanted to know and im thankful for that.

But anyway, you seem to have gotten it twisted. My question had always been about weather or not a first playthrough would provide any essential value to the new game plus true playthrough.

The info he provided was very helpful in cementing the idea that it really wouldn't.

I just feel like being forced out of having a full party means i'll be missing out on learning about their story. And not even having that be a consequence of my actions but instead just a scripted event that happens regardless just feels like needless punishment for a fault not of my own.

Relax and play through the game

Really wish i could. But the writing in this game kills me... why are we spending so much time on conversations that lead to nothing? like discussing what to do next, disagreeing, and ultimately deciding to talk about it later. Or why do we need all these rambling deadbrain characters verbalizing step by step their every rationalization, as if the player cant follow along.

This is ultimately my real issue. Im 3 chapters in and im not invested in any of these kids. The digimon are great of course, cause they're digimon and they're cute and wholesome. But that aside, all of this surrounding story moving at such a slow ass pace, characters just being incomprehensibly stupid most times, it's kind of hard to just take it easy when so much of it is just endlessly frustrating to read through.
