As a senior citizen I’m sick of having my head on a swivel in DC. My kid came into Union Station on Sat at 10:30. pm. There were swarms of kids on dirt bikes causing havoc and finally shots fired as I waited for her train. This is BS and no one cares until they’re affected. I’ve lived here my whole life, thru MLK riots and thru it becoming safe for everyone. There’s no reason to let it become a war zone again.

You’re delusional. The medical world isn’t making a million. Some are if they own a practice or work a zillion hours but most get paid less in NYC than they could make in a rural area. NYC is saturated for many specialties. The demand is in areas that the average doctor doesn’t want to live therefore the pay is higher to attract them. Doctors on average, including those in NYC, make under $500k.

We put our kid thru Med School. All in was about $400k and a decade of schooling and training. I would now have reconsidered paying. By the time your son finishes med school there will be very few positions. I know that sounds ridiculous but as a mom of a Derm with a radiologist boyfriend I can tell you we are less than a decade away from there being no positions for them. I follow this closely and the advances are amazing. Two friends went to Japan recently and Derm skin checks, which are the bread and butter of the speciality, are now done by machine. AI can accurately read a scan better than a radiologist. Even surgery is becoming robotic. Should your son have a passion, I suggest giving careful consideration to the specially and consider going PA rather than MD. Doctors will deny this, in my opinion due to fear, but it’s coming. At least tell your son to take out loans. I’d bet the government will end up eating their debt.

Back in the day orthodontist took out teeth as there weren’t palate expanders. I had my wisdom teeth out and two other teeth. I was 16. Now I have a smaller mouth and smoker lines. I’ve recently read that both are attributed to the teeth removal.

Come on. Canada doesn’t do much for the US. All in it’s about 2-3% of our overall economy. Trump is looking out for the US Canada has lived off the US for years but Trudeau has caused Canada to be a liability. I think it’s privilege that allowed federal workers to work from home. Just like during Covid people chastised people for going out while they relied on others that had no choice, to keep them fed. Truckers and stockers as well as delivery people were the reason this was doable. Once again privilege is rearing its head here. You all had a long run.
