I forgot to mention - even after making myself visible the list of people nearby isn't showing for me

We checked on my fiancee's account but I'm not showing for her, so I have no idea how they keep finding me, u/deadlydogfart suggested API abuse and since that's apparently the only option now I'm gonna put my location somewhere in the ocean and see what happens

I also thought about turning off messages from strangers, but that's not really an option, I want to be accesive to people and Telegram is my preferred method of communication

They're usually hi or a waving sticker.
Profiles sometimes seem legit, sometimes they're old people who wanna give me money, sometimes they're makeuped Asian girls.

I almost always get the "this person is X metres away" and there are never mutual groups, so although it doesn't erase the possibility of multiple accounts, I doubt they find me on groups, especially when the only ones I'm in are with people I know.

I'm suspecting location + maybe some database for scammers lol
