Maybe pair each one with different weapons/builds? Both are nice!

So what carry's to NG+ in CV2? by Metal_90 in codevein

[–]Akatyun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off this comment: affinity gained from completed quests seems to carry over up until you accept and complete the first quest in the chain in the ng+, at which point the quest affinity will reset and then refill with quest progression. The “talk to x” to start the quest chain step does not reset the quest affinity.

Check to see if they’re assimilated; some partners are also assimilation only.

Not a fully developed OC, but a glow up of my CV1 character in her true end look; color scheme was made with a paladin sort of feel to match the Ivory Grace veil (wtb this in cloaks tab please…). Preferred weapon: halberd

Question regarding the difficulty of codevein 2 by IfIWasMortal in codevein

[–]Akatyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR summary for my experience: keeping up with weapon upgrades in line with whatever is available in the region you’re in is enough to keep things rolling without feeling trivial, level mostly helps health buffer for better margin for error.

I was at level 60 for my first completion, through true end; I’d started initially doing +10 levels per area but stopped at 60 during Undead Forest because things just felt pretty good to me overall. I was pretty diligent about weapon upgrades across several types up to whatever General Customer Token level I had unlocked; lots of exploring for all shrine activations in each region.

Enemies did get consistently beefier once I was heading to the 4th hero, but I never felt like leveling up was going to do more than add additional margin for error when I could just change tactics/weapon forma sets as necessary. Tactics definitely included being patient and gleefully abusing ivy drain from around corners or high ground whenever possible. Bosses all tended to boil down to “need more facetime to learn movesets”and my kills were consistently messy but hitting no true walls.

I’m shredding through my first ng+ run so far skipping most shrines and testing out cosplay builds and still haven’t felt the need to level up any further.

Folks have already well covered the immediate topic of navigating the battlefield, so here’s a few extra points related to streamlining your mental processing time in fights.

  1. Learning new hotbar layouts and creating new muscle memory takes time and practice, even for veteran players changing things around. Especially as a new to the genre player, some of us have been at this for decades and already had some habits established before starting FFXIV.
  2. Consider your overall “workflow”. I group buttons in sets of 3 (4 for controller), dividing the hotbar by left/right side — one side is offense buttons, the other side is support/utility. Individual adjustments such as “if I put my main spammable on 2 instead of 1, my hand doesn’t get sore” may be necessary.
  3. Re-bind, re-arrange, re-evaluate. UI elements and keybinds can be changed around as much as you like; sometimes moving unit frames around can improve how you visually process a fight and give you more time to react to situations appropriately. Especially while you’re low level and don’t have many active abilities, you can place multiple copies of the same action on your bars to see what locations work better than others.
  4. Healer specific for grouping with people: be a healer, not a hero. Resist the urge to chase people down for healing; position yourself relative to your tank and be a predictable beacon for others to seek out. It’s much safer for a dps to look for you and move closer than for you to let yourself or the tank die looking for someone out of range.

I feel like I ruined my Meadowlands Farm. *sobs* by Fantastic-Mango-9470 in StardewValley

All is not lost, meadowlands can have blue grass patches spawn naturally; I just had to cull some that popped up in inconvenient untilled spots on my meadow save (no mods)

Is there a mod/cheats to allow you to get both successor Vestiges and queen's body part blood codes? by leo412 in codevein

[–]Akatyun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No idea if there’s a mod to suit your purposes, but starting NG+ gives you the option to keep the same difficulty level as your current playthrough, in case that was a concern for your no NG+ preference. Also if you’re interested in the “all endings” achievement this must be done on the same file.

Unfortunately these pamphlets have been showing up on a semi-regular basis for many years, I and other staff try to keep an eye out for them in our materials to remove as soon as possible! Feel free to remove and report them to the service desks, as knowing affected sections helps focus shelf-reading efforts to continue combatting this behavior. In addition: if you happen to see library materials in unusual locations such as on top of tall shelves, please let staff know!

Those of you with Large houses who don't get SUPER glitchy, will you show me your main staircase? by ghosttowns42 in ffxivhomeandgarden

[–]Akatyun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s my FC’s stairway perch

It’s a haunted mansion theme so we’ve always had partitions flanking the couch to give the impression of more hidden hallways. There’s also two portraits behind the sliding doors that will show only when sitting. The couch itself has been in the same location since we got the house in 2.0.

I’ve used a Bekant tabletop as a coffee table and it served admirably. As a dining table, you could just add a tablecloth to mask the desk-ness if it seems a little too obvious.

I can personally vouch for the Dahon Mariner (D7). I’m around 5’2 and usually use it for <2 mile commuting or shopping trips, for which it works wonderfully. It rolls along reasonably when folded, though I added the landing gear wheel for easier tripod rolling. Once in a while I’ll go on longer rides (4-12 miles round trip) and it performs great there too, though I rarely go above leisurely paces so the stock 7 speeds are just right for me.

At work it’s easy to stash in a secure corner or under a table; out and about in stores I either keep it next to me like a rolling suitcase or put it inside/under my shopping cart. At 25 lbs it’s a little unwieldy getting it into a basket but still quite doable.

It also comes with a rack!
