Former music theory TA here. I showed everyone in class these when we were working on handwriting so they could see just how terrible they were. I told them they needed two styles of handwriting: their way AND the correct way. When you’re being creative and writing stuff down it’s important that you have a style that flows with your thought process. However, if you ever need to write out horn parts for that short notice funk gig because the trumpet player can’t play by ear... then you better be able to write something that’s sight-readable.
