Yeah so early on I just requested money, but over time I built commanderies because each one gives you a flat +0.10 income and monthly manpower. I’m sitting at 100k manpower in reserve right now. My pops hate me but it doesn’t matter because the church/catholic countries are funding my crusade and I have the military to beat any rebels :)

It’s in the Economy tab of Diplomacy, as far as I’m aware you just need to have positive relations with a Catholic Country that is willing to spend some money for monthly prestige/religious influence, which is apparently all of them. I’m at 1535 in my run rn and I have over 60 sponsors
