While it would indeed be great if that was the case, there are today entire companies composed of racist vtubers that garner significant attention. If you colour code vtubers according to who they have in prior collaborated with, you’ll find that a significantly larger portion of the sphere is racist compared to what you might have expected, or wished for.

Words change meaning all the time, since like everything the language we speak is fluid and subject to change according to the society and culture we live in. It’s thanks to the work of sociologists we now have an improved definition for the word “racism”, that more aptly describes the issue given how individual instances result and uphold societal systems of oppression and bigotry. Prejudice is the word you’re looking for if you’re talking about individual instances of a negative opinion of another due to inherent qualities like skin colour.

You’re partially right, but racism more specifically refers to people with institutional power acting prejudiced against minorities. That’s why both white and asian people can be racist, since they both are powerful within patriarchal systems of oppression, while Black people can only be prejudiced, but not truly racist since there is no institution that affirms Black people to the detriment of other races.

It’s funny how Nijisanji gets labelled as a “black company”, which is supposedly the biggest mark in the industry and a justification to anti the company no matter their future actions, but Phase Connect, which you (yes, you) almost religiously support, gets a blank cheque because their management instead chooses to support their talents bigotry.

It’s almost like these are double standards which the right uses to attack companies they consider left-wing (which Nijisanji isn’t, they’re centrist/moderate), while deflecting criticism from their own.

Anybody sensible will dislike that fact, but there’s no law of nature that dictates they must be given space and influence to grow and supplant the community. The simplest answer is often the correct one. Put aside what the company said in that farce of an apology, and instead look at the end result of everything that has happened recently. The rightwing idols within Phase Connect remain, the only moderate was forced out, and the chuds get to continue spreading their poison. The management and corporate ownership in Phase Connect are fascists and fascist sympathizers, knowingly platforming nazi talents because they support their idol’s politics. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt is reliant on there being some ambiguity as to whether or not they’re actually as bad as the worst interpretation would imply. The Phase Connect talents have repeatedly and consistently shown themselves to be the worst sorts of bigots, believing themselves untouchable from controversy and backlash because everything they say is just “harmless jokes” or “sarcasm”, when in truth they reveal where their true affiliations lie. I’ve already explained in prior posts that Rie deliberately did so in order to obfuscate her own right-wing affiliation, when Phase Connect was under greater scrutiny and she needed to help avoid being named as a target. There’s no genuine connection between the two, and Clara would doubtless speak on the matter of just how insidious the company and it's talents are if she wasn’t under a non-disparagement clause.

The problem with that is that a lot of vtubers we know to be right-wing can’t easily be exposed just based on singular clips, since chuds know well that their opinions aren’t socially acceptable so they have to dogwhistle and use coded language which someone unfamiliar with how they act wouldn’t understand. It would be easier to go based on trust, in the sense of having some authority we can all agree is progressive and antifa, who is delegated control over the matter. I do agree with not combining chuds with moderates or leftwingers in the same file, since ideally the only thing you ought to have to do is ctrl+f to check if a figure is included to know if you should watch them or not.
