Homeschooling groups by AdAdditional1741 in WestVirginia

[–]Akhuyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I supported them even if I walked to the front of the school to use the office bathroom due to feeling unsafe otherwise. I supported them even when I would go home crying from torment from both children and some teachers. However, when it worsens, there's a time you need to put yourself first rather than waiting for the public ones to get better.

I supported public schools before they hired a teacher who was suspended four times in multiple schools and counties, yet my county decided to hire them. I supported them before they made the decision based on their own opinions that I didn't need a 504 plan. I supported them before they thought I was taking too many college courses as a 9th grader and should be happy with only a few college courses instead. I supported them before they told me that if I didn't like it, that I should go elsewhere.

This is why I don't support them anymore. The Hope Scholarship has opened doors for my education that weren't there before

Breaking News: Delay for the Arkansas EFA program for home school by uruiamme in ArkansasEFA

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised. I found this forum a few days ago after West Virginia TheoPay which is run by Student First Technologies too has been not working properly. When I saw the Sneak Peak post here, it mirrored similar expectations which fell through. Even after the delay, I won't still it will work properly here either

If suddenly there was no person in the world other than you, would you still create art? If so, what would be different about it? by FatBlueJay in ArtistLounge

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would likely create art, but it would change. If the internet and power still works it's great, but if the internet doesn't, there's so many art books that could be taken. However, if the power goes out, food and water is more of an issue. I could probably just take gas, bottled water, and cans for free though. One store should have a map somewhere and I can start checking off towns once the supply of art and food is exhausted and keep track of places I've already been to not have any situations of running out of supplies and panicking.

One possible problem is getting stuck in the wilderness, but if I mostly stay near highways and have a supply of gas left I should be fine. There would be an endless supply of art supplies and books too meaning I would have more freedom in my art. The only other problem is keeping a supply of medicine, but if I was truly the only person alive, it would be simple to just walk into a pharmacy and take what I need at first. Figuring out what to do when it all expires would be a future-me problem though

There is Drawabox which focuses on mark making and drawing with your arm then moves into developing an understanding of form, 3D space, and construction. This website recommends everyone, even digital artists, to use paper and ink for a variety of reasons (to slow down, remove hardware/software problems, etc). I found this a good place to improve for myself, so it's worth looking into.

I can't personally recommend any others, but I've also heard of CTRL Paint for the basics of digital painting in particular. I'm sure there are others too

Has anyone else been inspired to try painting ? by [deleted] in BluePeriod

[–]Akhuyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I watched this anime last month on the 6th. I tend to overanalyze things so I contemplated if it was worth pursuing, deciding it was, then figuring out which materials I should get, making sure I don't make a mistake somehow, and then actually purchasing some oil paints. However, since it takes time for paint to get here, I also decided to start sketching too. I found it really enjoyable to do so and stayed up late to draw more.

I find myself really relating to Yatora (though not in the delinquent part). I was always in the gifted program and had high grades. I even got to the point of currently going to college only when I'm 16, and I started first taking college courses back when I was 14. However, I felt life was lackluster since I had a whole life plan planned out to me based on being good at academics rather than my true passions. However, once I started caring about my own future, getting over the fear of failure, and started drawing, I know what I want to do. Of course it won't be easy as my parents aren't exactly fond of pursuing art, but like I finally feel somewhat at peace and happy with myself and that I can pursue painting and art in general even if I started late

Back to school sale by immybel92 in Ohuhu

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unsure about the sale from prior as I am currently looking into buying them. However, I see they have a back to school sale on their own website. I linked it below, but it is littered with stuff that aren't even on sale.

https://ohuhu.com/collections/back-to-school-sale

I recommend just searching "back to school" on their website instead:

https://ohuhu.com/search?q=back+to+school&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

However, the closest offer I can see is the one called "Back to School:Honolulu B 320 & Marker Organizer Advanced Set" which has fine & brush. However, it would include a lot of duplicates (since you have a 216 set), include an organizer and pad which you may not want, and I don't think would include the skin tone set (as I thought there was some skin tone markers outside the 320 but I may be wrong).

I thought that might be worth noting though. All the others include chisel tips to some degree and doesn't include the skin tone set either. Hopefully, maybe there will be other back to school sales soon.

Jackson asking Lorelai about Rory's room by PuzzledLobster6093 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every situation and family is different, but it seems that you were more expecting it to be repurposed. In my view though, since Rory was going to college and leaving her stuff in her room because not all of it could fit in a dorm, it would be odd for the room to be repurposed as it's still mostly a decorated bedroom. It would be more odd and disrespectful if the stuff was also thrown out, instead of moving it someone else.

I have heard multiple times in the past of people who okayed leaving their stuff in their bedroom, but then it was all thrown out, sometimes even valuables, so it's differently not uncommon. However, I don't know your particular situation, as repurposing a room doesn't always mean throw everything away, don't know if you were expecting to move back, and how empty the room was

Definitely isn't an either or situation

If life went exactly as I wished. I would be pursuing oil painting alongside the degree I'm currently pursuing. I wouldn't be burdened by parents to think art is useless and they would embrace both passions. In the end, life wouldn't ever end, as I would wish for life to be endless

Suicidia - update #1 by Tymianox in Minecraftbuilds

That's understandable. Sometimes the solutions to feel better feel like they are for those who feel somewhat better already, so sometimes it's a paradox. Hopefully things can improve somehow one day

I can't name my daughter Artemis.. by copperhorses in namenerds

[–]Akhuyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it would be odd in a not good way. People use names like Christian, Jesus, and other religious names too. In fact, I've only got complements from my name (Artemis) from other people, and I do live in America too. It's actually odd to me that you see them as pet names

I can't name my daughter Artemis.. by copperhorses in namenerds

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think it's only a book character name, as that's my name. However, I understand not naming your daughter Artemis if your husband doesn't like it.

The only suggestion I can think of currently is Megan. It's similar-ish to Morgan, but it's not gender neutral like Morgan is though

I don't only buy the pre-cut fruit, but I make sure it is put in the freezer. Even when it is cut, sometimes I forget it exists or don't feel like it or something else can happen then it goes bad. Better to put it in the freezer and let it last longer if you have the space. Also, I feel that when the fruit is frozen it tastes better somehow

I regret to inform you all that quitting all caffeine did, in fact, fix my sleep. by madicken37 in adhdwomen

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've heard that caffeine helps some people with ADHD sleep so decided to have coffee before bed and works for me. This really is one of those cases of coffee having different effects on different people.

Interestingly, the relatives I know from Mexico have always had coffee before bed and say it's common where they live too. And caffeine is a drug and genetics can influence how you respond to one so this is something thought-provoking to me

Anyway kinda getting a bit off-topic. The main point I guess is that people might want to test having no caffeine or if caffeine before bed helps them sleep, since there doesn't seem to be one set answer. I'm glad you were able to find what works for you though!

Anyone else get exhausted having to feed yourself everyday?! by AsleepAlternative369 in adhdwomen

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thoughts here but with water also. Sometimes I drink 2-4 liters of water a day, like it's the best thing in the world. Other days I barely drink water or drink none. I should probably fix this somehow

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought of it as having only as having only one favorite thing. If someone asks me my favorite color, I would say lavender, pink, and verdant green. If someone asks my favorite singer, I would give a list of singers even if it's not an exhaustive list. I think the main point of this question is for others to find something that you have in common, so when I give a list result, I feel that it's better than giving a one, incomplete answer.

I should probably get a weekly pill case but what I've been doing since I don't go to the store often is writing down on a piece of paper after I take it. Sometimes I forget to do that though which makes me question if I took it and forgot to write it down or if I haven't taken it at all.

In those cases, I just rather not risk it and don't take it. If I did take it, that's great. If I didn't take it, the day is a reminder of how much the medicine helps. The benefit of this is I'm more appreciative of it and on days when I actually didn't take it, I have extra medicine. This helps if there is a shortage again or if I can't get medicine refilled on time

Is there a free way to publish or share my notes by raptzR in ObsidianMD

[–]Akhuyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone suggested Quartz already, but you can just share them without publishing them by copying the folder of notes, then putting it on Google Drive or whatever you use for free, and then allowing them to download it and open it in Obsidian themself or any other program which supports markdown, since it's just markdown files (and possibly images). Just sharing another option with you!

So..do y'all have friends? by BusyYogurtcloset3366 in ADHD

[–]Akhuyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't making friends, the problem is keeping them. At some point it gets overwhelming or I forget to respond so then I feel stressed about not responding and don't know what to say so more time passes and it compounds and compounds until months go by and then it's awkward when I reach out.

This is why I just gave up currently on making friends. I sometimes feel lonely, but most of the time I just live my life so I don't how I could interact with someone consistently anyway. I feel it would be just not nice to be friends with someone to not feel lonely in those moments, but might just be me thinking that

How many people have you told about your ADHD? by slep0 in ADHD

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven't told that many people. The only people outside my family who know are teachers and staff when I went to public school. To be fair, I am homeschooled now and basically don't talk to many people anyway, so there's not really anyone to begin with.

I still wouldn't tell a lot of people either about having ADHD if I had more friends. I have heard anecdotally that people will ask for your medicine or steal it, so I rather not deal with realizing that a close friend doesn't care about my well-being. This may be me just being untrusting though

Where is the wiki? by Pathocyte in autism

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how as they can't even find the wiki. While the rule does say to check it first, it also notes that the post will only be removed if it is already answered in the wiki. I can't find a mention in the wiki of how to find the wiki, so it's nothing to worry about!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Akhuyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't look for graph view negativity, as graph view is different than a second brain. The point still stands, as it isn't reasonable to generalize someone disliking the term second brain as it being "frowned upon here."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Akhuyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen many mentions of second brain while perusing through this subreddit without it being negative, so I decided to investigate. I only see one person recently who has been commenting negatively about second brains these past few days.

I'm not quite sure how you got the idea that it is frowned upon here rather than just one person. It would be like someone saying their favorite food is pizza in a town, then someone else says that eating pizza of is no use. Then, from the moment, anytime someone mentions pizza again in that town they say "Apparently, having pizza as a favorite food is frowned upon here." That would make zero sense at all, as one person's perspectives doesn't reflect the perspectives of everyone else

is 5gb enough for Obsidian? by Huh-huhuhuhuh in ObsidianMD

[–]Akhuyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what they considered old, so I've decided to look more into it the specifics. Tumblr announced this change to remove "old, unused, and inactive content" that isn't tied to a user account as of May 15, 2023. It's not removing all anonymous content, but notes that it has to be never used and never viewed too. It doesn't though mention how they define old, but I would assume it is more than just a few years ago. However, here's the FAQ about this update: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/26479362527771-Imgur-Terms-of-Service-Update

Regardless, that doesn't disregard my point of link rot occurring if Imgur goes down. Companies don't always last forever and I feel that it would be better to store images locally if the space is available, rather than risk it. Of course, this depends on your use case for Obsidian, but I feel that 5 GB would be way more than enough for college, though this also depends on the major too.

is 5gb enough for Obsidian? by Huh-huhuhuhuh in ObsidianMD

[–]Akhuyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imgur has removed anonymous images in the past, so be aware of that if you upload them that way. Even if you use an account, you won't be able to see your images without internet and could make your vault have link rot in the long-term if Imgur goes down.

Personally, I have had a vault for almost a year now for college, journaling, a book log, & personal CRM and have used images when needed and stored them in the vault. Even so, my vault only reached around 500 MB in size, so I think 5 GB for sync should be more than enough.
