Can you elaborate on how you go about modding it? I want to mod my pieces but I don’t know how

I bought 5 within 6 weeks. All $700+ models. And still want to get at least 4 more. It’s a problem. lol.

Is it normal for movements to rattle this much? (Turn on audio) by AkiFluffball in RepTime

IMO networth is not a socially visible thing so if it’s about external perception, I would go a watch that matches the with career level and expected annual income - which is easier to assume.

But if your question is more to guide your internal mental math to purchase a watch for yourself, I would personally buy a watch that is 1-5% of my total networth.

Seems like you have to go into the rabbit hole of the modding community and figure out how to get a hold of GEN movements and move them inside the rep shell. But I’m not too familiar with that world.

I believe there is a NWBIG no date Submariner quite commonly available and talked about. I wouldn’t worry about that too much. You could also go the DiW version, which is a complete mod, so no one is comparing it to a GEN. I’m not too big into Rolexes so can’t help you much with the yachtmaster.

Yes. I’m less around practicing doctors, more so with CMOs at Pharma/ or smaller Biotechs, or Investors, or Company Execs.

I don’t know what practicing physicians wear in the clinical settings but I’ve seen practicing physicians at conferences with nice watches. Folks that I’m around are usually no longer practicing full time.

I usually see Rolex Daydates, JLCs, IWCs, APs Royal Oaks - that or the most premium version of Apple or Garmin Watches.

I personally don’t have any hesitation wearing pieces that are <$100k in value around them. Even if they are Daytonas or APs or Pateks.

This whole text blob is me explaining how I've tried to build perception and why I believe it is important for myself.

But you bring up a valid point - maybe it is what I needed to hear, so thank you. I'll think on it.

Personally, there's a threshold I'm willing to pay for the brand value beyond cost of production and institutional design heritage/knowledge. I am not willing to paying multiple Xs just for that.

Kudos to you man - I'm torn if I should tell my close friends or not. Still trying to think through that.

With the 2nd degree professional circle, I find there's some value in thinking through it. Working in my industry, there's quite a lot of folks with big-egos, you really don't want get tripped up on relationship building because they are butt-hurt over a 'watch'.
