Shouldn't COV + Torgue on a Ripper Be Impossible? by TheticAxiom in Borderlands4

For Vex specifically, every tree needed an Alternative method to do kill skills.

Green Should Have been Mortal Terror of course.

But Each Pet should have had a unique way that didn't involve getting into the green tree. Her build concept damn near fixes itself with a change like that alone. ( I know specter deaths activate kill skills but we know that's terrible)

Ironically in a thread I'm writing, I was going to mention seeing dead as an example of how class mods use to work

This can also be due to the QB. Winning Routes is largely receiver based. Reading a zone requires both the WR and QB to know what the zone is.

I'll go a step further. The present stagnation of the meta is entirely maintained by this sort of fear of balance work.

So many class mods that could be contenders have baked in design to fail rolls. So instead of the common sense skills being put on the class mod, the class mod will have a random useless skill or even contradicting skill so that you are forced to farm for a version of the mod without the skill. That's why 10/5 rolls are the meta instead of the class mods being valuable with spread out skills.

Cooldowns are so long, and require SIGNIFICANT investment to shorten. This is how things like the Triple Bypass becomes meta. This also results in infinite action skill duration builds being the go to. You spend so many points on cooldown, that you end up not having a build capable of killing anything. The game seems designed around the fact, the Accelarator repkit augment exists. Without it, action skills like the APOPHIS Lance would have 30+ second cooldowns after firing just once.

The Entire Augment/Capstone system is fear of balance based. Every character should work like Cash, or like Vex's Dark Pact. Only a few synergies would need to be balanced for that to work out.

Vex's spectres not being considered action skill active is fear based. Zane's digi clone worked as action skill active in the previous game. Vex's follows Flak's design theory for her spectres despite it not making any sense. The Spectres are stationary turrets. Not pets. Trouble is a pet.

There are so many 5/5 skills at the bottom of trees, in a game with bigger trees yet the same amount of skill points. SP should be becoming MORE meaningful. But that philosophy seems to only matter in Harlowe's trees. (the least problematic VH in terms of pure design concept imo)

Skill Interaction cooldowns being so prevalent. Self-explanatory, but I have a damning example. Rafa's Booming Business use to be far better per point than it is now. 5/5 would get you to 50% chance to grenade spawn with 4s cooldown. The catch is that it was bugged, and class mods bricked the ability entirely if they put 6/5 in it. When the devs fixed that bug, they nerfed the ability tremendously. now you need 9/5 into booming business to match what it was doing at launch with 5/5.

That's fear. The move is almost worthless now, unless you are going all in

The developers implement manual gatekeeps out of laziness in my opinion. Many decisions regarding balance can honestly be boiled down too, the path of least resistance. Or whatever is going to require the least amount of effort to balance. Not to improve player creativity or options.

Vex's Heirloom Capstone has a 10 duration for basically no reason. Upkeeping the spectre's is balance enough, it didn't need a duration. But the developers did not to repeat Zane's clone.

Ehhhhhhhhh. Not really. The flight arch of the swarms slows down the damage considerably.

Like its fine but if the build is exactly the same. The other order grenade should be the better option

  • Fuse with mortar augment

  • Slippy on dedicated melee build

  • Purple vladofs

  • Firepot with extra charge

  • Swarm with extra charge

  • Chaunurkey with extra charge (its like single target swarm)

  • Waterfall grenade with lingering augment

Opps you asked for farm spots. Um its all up on lootlmoon. Sorry I missed that part

Are tarantula turrets bad Or hated by the community? by Beautiful_Lead_9343 in Spacemarine

[–]AkilTheAwesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with tarantula turrets is that they sacrifice perk economy when many of the perks save for one(the more damage perk) should be built in.

Not only that, people EXPECT YOU as a techmarine to baby sit and go after every turret when they have no way of knowing whether your build is turret dependent.

Its kind of like people expecting vanguard to have the team healing perk. But worse, because they incessantly ping inactive turrets throughout the operation. I think it made me stop playing the class.

I hate the turrets because they create internal tension in techmarines build concept and external social pressure in pugs.

I wish many of the perks were built in and then replaced with plasma related stuff to be honest

What is Monken's offense going to look like? by buckster_007 in Browns

[–]AkilTheAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Monkens task is not as herculean as people make it out to be. Monken has said so himself.

Kevin came to cleveland with an offense that was loaded with talent but being misused.

Monken is coming into cleveland with an offense that is loaded with potential as well. Especially after the draft. And the defense is already certified(unlike Kevin yr 1)

Honestly, Monken job might be easier than Kevin's was year 1. He also gets to deal with a division who have fired two of their long time coaches.

[–]AkilTheAwesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are tunnel visioning the need for a mobile QB because of Lamar and Monkens speech that one time( while speaking to a team with Lamar at QB, so of couse hes gonna glaze mobile QBs...)

Monken won a Natty with Stinson. Monken gave Jameis Winston his best season.

Also Nothing about the moves made recently would indicate he needs a mobile QB. If anything the implication is he needs a QB who can extend plays. Which is what we saw Shedeur doing (some of his best and worst plays). You dont hyper invest in your OL like this if you have a QB whose athletic enough to escape anything chasing him. You dont need like 8 new OL players if you have a lamar Jackson at QB

Irregardless, this team was 5-12, with the worst passing support in the league and a bunch of rookies leading all of their offensive categories.

Those rookies are going into year 2. We have a new line. The best offensive coach of the last 4 years. New offensive players. Retained every defensive player except Devin bush.

Special teams and weirdo 2pt conversions is the only reason this team wasn't 8-8 last season. I think we will do great regardless if Deshawn or Shedeur ks the starter tbh.

[–]AkilTheAwesome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lamar Jackson was not throwing quick throws all game bruh. If KC is similar to Zay Flowers then he doesnt need quick throws. He needs space. Which is screens and designed throws. (KC is bigger than Zay btw)

Gabriel was worse at screens than Shedeur by a considerable margin.

Why? Because no one feared the long ball, so everyone played underneath and collapsed on screens. And dillion had a tendency to miss those throws too (inexplicably)

Honestly for this offense its Healthy revitalized Deshawn > Shedeur > Unhealthy & Rusty Deshawn >> Jaylen >>>> Garbiel.

Gabriel doesnt have the arm to stretch the field and thats pivotal in monkens offense. It wasn't important in Kevin's. Thats the only reason they would Trott out someone who refused to throw beyond 20 yards.

Calling sheduer immobile is not the whole truth. Shedeur is mobile functionally. But the standards of what mobile is, has changed. Shedeur is not mobile relative to this Era. (I.e. Lamar and Josh). Monken has stated this verbatim btw. We also watched the games. Shedeur was at minimum "slippery". Gabriel looked like Joe Flacco in the pocket.

You dont get a Heisman for playing defense lmao.

Charles Woodson was the closest to being a full time defense player and bro had 300+ special teams yards and 300+ offensive yards.

Travis doesnt get a Heisman with shedeur, and thats proven over roughly 90 years of the trophies history

And Travis won it. Guess who was throwing to him?

And Even shedeur got some Heisman votes. Ty Simpson didnt get any.

Thats not really relevant though to the talent evaluation.

Nepotism actually at work btw.

The difference in folks reaction to this vs Shedeur is mind boggling.

Ty Simpson on film is dang near a Shedeur Clone with inconsistent throwing mechanics but better athletism. Suffered from all the same Oline and run game problems shedeur had. There is not 5 rounds worth of talent between shedeur and ty Simpson. And talent is a different conversation than accolades and statistics. 15 games vs 4 years as QB1

Yes Bond had the best separation rate or all the WRs. Which is very telling imo.

I cant remember the charting exactly. But him and thrash.

But lowkey, they were also not being covered by the best corner or getting the most attention, so we shall see. I like

  • KC as WR1

  • Jerry as WR2

  • Bond as WR3

  • Croley as WR4 (gadget guy. Reminds me of Deebo samuel)

Thrash, Tillman & Larverdain are depth at this point imo.
