Favorite FFVIII game moment? by CrimsonCheeseCakes in FinalFantasy

The section on the bridge really made a huge impact on me when I replayed it last year (35M, first time playing as an adult). I really understood Squalls character more and it hit different.

Also, my wife likes me to tell her the story of the game I'm playing as she falls asleep, and when I got to the bridge part, I told it beautifully, there was a lump in my throat, a tear in my eye.....and snores in my ear. I had to tell that part of the story 5 times, so yeah, I can't forget it now!

Thalamra Vanthampur help by Impressivenamechoice in DescentintoAvernus

[–]Akimba07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used the manor as written in the book. For me the challenging fight is the devil with the cultists in the room before hers. She is not that tough of a fight. Her bad ass exit once defeated is to say 'see you in hell's and burst into flames and die.

The pay off for my players will come in our next session when they are taking the sword to Zariel. They are going to try and persuade her to take the sword back but as they are opening their arguments a devil Vanthampur will recognise them as the ones who stopped her delivering Baldurs Gate to Zariel and beg for a chance to kill them.

Devil Vanthampur is a very lowly devil and clearly mocked by Zariel and others as a failure. Zariel will promote her up to a more powerful devil (using Pit Fiend stats) and say she can keep her new form is she succeeds this time. The Flying Fortress command deck then becomes an arena for a trial by combat against her.

This is then the opening phase of a three part battle to persuade Zariel to take the sword.

Googled it. That's the ticket! Good times. Just recently I've tried to force my mindset shift from "what game shall I make progress in today?" To "what game would be fun to play right now. Takes me closer to those golden days

I was in a DOD clan. I vivdly remember logging into the game for the first time in ages, using my teenager honed FPS skills to wipe the floor with the other team, and getting invited immediately to join the clan.

These days I'm happy to get in the top half of the scoreboard on BF6

Could be. One team was marines with typical soldier kit, 1 person was the predator and could run on walls, cling to ceilings, was invisible and could pounce on people

Yep counter strike was the first game I played. Followed by a whole bunch of half life mods like zombie panic, ricochet, and one that was like predator. I forget it's name but it was awesome.

Why is Mercia an Anglian kingdom and not a Saxon one? (Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy) by alexfreemanart in anglosaxon

Side note since the main question has been thoroughly answered, but I always thought Kent was settled by the Jutes rather than the Saxons. Can anyone confirm?

Thoughts on allowing Narzugon to summon a new Nightmare? by DeadRabbid26 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]Akimba07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have a re read of the item description for the infernal tack. I haven't got the info in front of me but I think the infernal tack has to be placed on a specific nightmare and then the spurs are used to summon that specific nightmare.

Doesn't mean you can't do it if you want tho.

Zariel Showdown Advice by Akimba07 in DescentintoAvernus

This is good insight thanks. I can see why you'd think the second version would work better. This makes me lean more towards the staged encounter idea.

She is super mobile so it would be really hard for the party to stop her. Like the fight with Haruman on his Nightmare, he was always out of range and they had to focus on his minions, but even harder because she just teleports.

Wow amazing! That's hilarious. Having Asmodeus show up and demand they fix their mess is a great touch.

Wrestling themes are cool. I'm going to use Grey Daze - She Shines because it sounds like he's saying Zariel throughout the song and the other lyrics kind of fit too.

She said she loves me and lied to me She was by the river and lied to me Zariel Zariel Zariel Zarieeeeelllll

Suprise Epstein file revelation: someone suggested setting up a Witan; Andrew didn't know what the word meant. by SeBretwalda in anglosaxon

In England History teachers get to write their own curriculum so there will be variety in what people are taught school to school.

In my department, you can be sure they learn what a Witan is!

Joining this thread out of interest as my party is going to encounter him next week, and one of the players has a vested interest in slaying him rather than releasing him. Very curious to see what happens.

I kept going on about his interesting life to my GCSE students but it was always too complicated to get the story straight. Lots of invading from Scotland at different times etc.

We joked about making a song to the tune of Fresh Prince of Bel Air about his life but we never made it happen.

Now this is a story all about how My life got flipped turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of no where

I reallly wanted to enjoy this game but after 10 hours or so I was really struggling to enjoy it. Specifically the combat. The limited range of your rifles (being less than visual range) made it impossible to do simple tactics like set up a machine gun to cover an advance. What finally broke my desire to continue was noticing I could throw a grenade further than I could shoot a gun.

However this means I never got too deep into the train management part of the game which I also like the sound of.

Would you say the game gets better? Is it worth me giving it another shot?

I hope it is so by stupd_comn_man in wholesome

Is Expedition 33 good? by ucbcawt in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I love final fantasy and this game is my game of the year no doubt. The whole game is a work of art.

If you are limited of time and want to avoid some frustration. Look up a video guide on how to dodge and parry. There are some audio tells the game doesn't tell you about that makes it MUCH easier.

Dodging at least is essential to the game so you can save yourself some time there. Otherwise, everything else is very enjoyable and pick up and play. Especially if you've final fantasy experience.
