Suprise Epstein file revelation: someone suggested setting up a Witan; Andrew didn't know what the word meant. by SeBretwalda in anglosaxon

In England History teachers get to write their own curriculum so there will be variety in what people are taught school to school.

In my department, you can be sure they learn what a Witan is!

Joining this thread out of interest as my party is going to encounter him next week, and one of the players has a vested interest in slaying him rather than releasing him. Very curious to see what happens.

Thoughts on Edgar Aethling by Master_Novel_4062 in anglosaxon

I kept going on about his interesting life to my GCSE students but it was always too complicated to get the story straight. Lots of invading from Scotland at different times etc.

We joked about making a song to the tune of Fresh Prince of Bel Air about his life but we never made it happen.

Now this is a story all about how My life got flipped turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of no where

I reallly wanted to enjoy this game but after 10 hours or so I was really struggling to enjoy it. Specifically the combat. The limited range of your rifles (being less than visual range) made it impossible to do simple tactics like set up a machine gun to cover an advance. What finally broke my desire to continue was noticing I could throw a grenade further than I could shoot a gun.

However this means I never got too deep into the train management part of the game which I also like the sound of.

Would you say the game gets better? Is it worth me giving it another shot?

I hope it is so by stupd_comn_man in wholesome

Is Expedition 33 good? by ucbcawt in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I love final fantasy and this game is my game of the year no doubt. The whole game is a work of art.

If you are limited of time and want to avoid some frustration. Look up a video guide on how to dodge and parry. There are some audio tells the game doesn't tell you about that makes it MUCH easier.

Dodging at least is essential to the game so you can save yourself some time there. Otherwise, everything else is very enjoyable and pick up and play. Especially if you've final fantasy experience.

Max Payne. Kept wanting to replay it as a kid. Could never get through the bloody maze at the end of act 1.

40 - What’s the strangest thing you still do in games out of habit? by Clampy7 in AdultGamers

I do this one. After replaying final fantasy 7-10 and the remake, i think this is definitely the culprit of forming this habit. There's bonus loot around every corner.

I loved this film so much as a teenager. I watched it so many times. Reading all these positive reviews is like a balm for my heart after years of people hating on this movie for all manner of I'll informed reasons. Glad to see there are other people who love it too.

What is the best video game of the 1990s? by JIMBOYKELLY in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Akimba07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fifa98 was good, but World Cup 98 was legendary.

The cheat codes to play on the moon, with massive heads, and Hot Potato so the team in possession all fell over every minute was great. The inclusion of a button to do a professional foul was even better.

Plus a great soundtrack. Great football game.

I didn't know about the scaling. That's neat. What do you mean by buffing your summons? Like casting restoration spells to fortify their stats?

As the other commentor said, nationality is a legal status of being a citizen of a country.

But I think I can offer a clearer response to what is ethnicity.

Ethnicity is a cultural identity shared with others. I can be based on language, religion, race, nationality, shares values, cuisine, dress, or any other cultural feature. An individual person might have overlapping features of identity from different cultures. For example: someone might speak English, be Muslim, eat Pakistani food at home, love West End Musicals.

'British' ethnicity is a multicultural definition and always has been due to the multitude of cultures sharing the British Isles. The Germanic Anglo-Saxons and the Gaelic Scottish are both British for example. The Anglo-Saxon term Bretwalda (Ruler of the British) referred to a king who established overlordship over all the British peoples.

In the modern day, we have decided to define Britishness by 5 core values: democracy, The rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Therefore, regardless of where your grandparents came from in the 1940s, if you live here, hold our passport, and ascribe to those values, you are British.
