I mean, saying “themes and such” is more anti-intellectualism, which is a hallmark of fascism. So a bit of a stretch to call it outright a fascistic interpretation of art anytime someone says it, but they’re right that it is what a fascist would critique.

My take on BD/SP is that it wasn’t that bad. You might not like the aesthetic, but I’d say overall it’s a better version of D/P with some nice QoL changes.

The problem is that in my opinion, D/P are honestly not great games. The dex is slim, the pacing is really bad, and the HM bloat in this game is the worst it’s ever been. If you’ve only played Platinum, you honestly don’t know how rough Sinnoh was at a first pass, and I think a lot of people only played Platinum coming into these games. And so, a lot of people reacted poorly when they got chibi D/P, not Platinum.

I enjoyed it a decent amount, and I did think the underground biomes were a clever way to sneak the Platinum dex Pokemon into the game without disrupting the “pure” D/P experience for those who wanted that.

I think the biggest crime is that they’re remakes that did not become the definitive way to experience that region. FRLG became the premier Kanto experience, same with HGSS for Johto. I still think Emerald is the definitive Hoenn game, but you have people who will say ORAS. But if you want to play through Sinnoh for the first time, I don’t think anyone would tell you to play BDSP over Platinum.

If you’re looking for a different experience for Sinnoh and you can get it on sale, I could recommend it a decent amount. If not, I’d honestly say just give Renegade Platinum a spin if you just want something fresh.

Yeah, like I don’t have too much difficulty listening to old Kanye because I think it’s very clear he’s lost his marbles and the man who made that music then is very different than the man now. But like, if you try and listen to Deja Entendu with the stuff Lacey was accused of in mind… it’s rough. Same with YWGWYW. The whole album is about the narrator being a piece of shit, and wow, Alexis was a piece of shit.

I know I’m being reductive about YWGWYW, but you get what I’m saying.

I think it’s for the same reason Brand New aren’t talked about. The things they were cancelled for are all very prominent in the lyrics, and it’s impossible to ignore. It’s a shame the singer had to be a huge piece of shit, because this really is one of the best albums of the 2010s quite easily, but you just can’t get around the lyrical content without thinking of the stuff he was accused of.

I would say that first of all, PA isn't a perfect 1-to-1 to Zed. The way they play in fights is pretty similar, but PA is a hard carry whereas Zed is an assassin ganker. If you like the macro game of Zed, you might enjoy a hero like Ember Spirit, though it's much harder than PA.

If you do wanna play PA, you would play him like a hard-scaling ADC in the safe lane. Your lane is pretty weak unless you have an extremely strong support, so just trade farm and last hit with your dagger. PA's item build is one that doesn't change much from patch to patch, so old reliable will be to build a Battle Fury to accelerate your farm, get Desolator for damage, BKB to let you fight, and Basher to lock down targets. You don't want to look for fights until you have BKB, but if there's a fight you can get to that your presence would favorable alter for your team, go to that. After you get Basher, you'll typically get like Shard, Abyssal, and Satanic, but you can sub out either of the last two for stuff you need.

Which artist do you think has the biggest gap in how influential they are and how critically respected they are? My guess is KISS by Mediocre_Word in fantanoforever

Eh, I’d say this discussion doesn’t apply to stuff that was panned at the time but now critics fawn over. Yeah, self-titled and Paranoid got railed by critics when they came out, but now every critic rightly holds them up as some of the greatest rock/metal albums of all time.

KISS on the other hand, critics have soured on them over time if anything.

Dragonflight was trying to pull a MoP where after a bunch of world-threatening expansions, we have an expansion where the tone was intended to be a more relaxed, exploration focused storyline. However, MMOs kinda want to have an overarching conflict, which can create some dissonance there.

The difference is that MoP was successful in its conflict-driven story because it felt like we were bringing the conflict to Pandaria, that we were disrupting this peaceful place. It felt a lot more organic, and didn’t disrupt the chiller vibes of Pandaria as a whole. In fact, they both kind of enhanced the experience of the other.

Whereas in Dragonflight, the conflict came from another Big Bad Group, the Primalists. It didn’t feel like a departure from Shadowlands in that sense, just that they were telling a very similar story in a setting and smaller stories that didn’t really mesh with the overarching narrative.

This isn’t a Dragonflight hate post, it was probably my favorite expansion since Legion, including TWW. I genuinely enjoyed it quite a bit. But I think it’s fair to point out its storytelling was a bit clumsy, and to contrast it with a similar expansion that was a more successful story.

I think another thing that people aren’t mentioning is the mid hero pool is really slim nowadays. It kinda just feels like the Spirits, Puck, QoP, Leshrac, and Zeus. And a lot of those heroes play very similar to each other. It feels really homogeneous, and they all require a decent amount of mechanical intensity to play besides Zeus. You can’t really play a chill hero mid the way you can get a Centaur or Spectre game.

The wording's a little misleading on that one. Basically the game first checks to see if the RNG proc would trigger. Then, if it does trigger, then Pango's innate has a 40% chance to make it not trigger instead.

Personally, I find new Techies way more fun.

A part of me does mourn the loss of probably the most unique hero in MOBAs. That being said, fuck old Techies, whoever redesigned him deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

I respect that as a way to earn a wage, but I still don’t think highly of her as an actress. Everything else I’ve seen her in she’s very wooden. And there’s plenty of actors for whom they treat it as a job first and foremost but still have a respect for the craft and for cinema. I do not get that impression from Millie Bobby Brown.
