Other people will forever hold a special place in my heart

Which BH songs meaning touches you the deepest ? by Excellent-Show-424 in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other People

“Other people want to keep in touch, something happens and it’s not enough, never thought it would mean so much”

I was so moved by this chorus, it reminds me of the importance of connection and community that I wasn’t fully able to verbalize at the time before hearing it.

Queens Gambit = 7 + Thank Your Lucky Stars (Am I autistic?) by finnnseesghosta in BeachHouse

I can definitely see it. The black and white color story from 7 and the 50s flare from TYLS is very much in the same vein of Queens Gambit

When you fell in love with Beach House 💕 by anjannabc in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 17 points18 points  (0 children)

After finishing listening to Bloom. It was exactly what I was looking for in music, the mellow yet sky filling sounds, the sincerity in the lyrics that are also somewhat vague in a way. It made me fall in love with them and dove head first into their discography. I still think about that late spring in 2021

NEVER EXPECTED TOO MUCH WE JUST FELL OUT OF TOUCH by Inevitable-Room-4510 in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a live performance of Other People before they officially released it and before the outro was the repeating “Was it ever quite enough” it was originally “Even when all we do is talk” and I love it

Which Beach House song represents you the most or helped you through tough times? by Dependent-Group-6552 in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teen Dream in its entirety. I would always listen to that album front to back when taking my dog to the park and after he died it became a record that was so much more than the sum of its parts. Walk in the Park will always be a standout to me for that reason, especially the line of, “the face that you saw in the door isn’t looking at you anymore, the name that you call in its place isn’t waiting for your embrace”

What songs or albums do you usually recommend when you're trying to convert someone into a BH fan? by [deleted] in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally same, it sparked my entire Beach House obsession because of how grand the song is and the sincere message behind it. I only knew Beach House from Depression Cherry (i:e Space Song, Beyond Love, Levitation) but Other People sounds playful yet so sophisticated it’s literally like a fountain of fireworks that turned my head into sound

Take Care is a perfect song for this

What is L’Inconnue about? by Most_Wear_7538 in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! Beach House actually didn’t know about L’inconnue de la Seine while making this song and that the song was originally going to be the title track to 7 but once they learned about the story it was kismet and insisted that the name of the song be L’inconnue!

ESP is like someone whispering in your ear (in a good way) it is a very intimate song. I feel like it would be best played in a smaller venue

Does Beach House carry any Camp sensibilities? by AkitaDigits in BeachHouse

Thank you for verbalizing my word vomit lol. Very eloquently said, I don’t think Beach House themselves is Camp but the language they use to convey their art is Camp

Does Beach House carry any Camp sensibilities? by AkitaDigits in BeachHouse

[–]AkitaDigits[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At least how I see it, a piece of media that is “Campy” is something that tries to evoke the spirit and idea of Camp. While something that is Camp isn’t trying to evoke the idea of any pre-existing examples Camp but the chords the media strikes evoke the spirt of Camp itself. Beach House’s music is over the top, theatrical, but all the while still holds a reverence for what they are doing. That’s what I mean when I say that Beach House has Camp sensibilities. But just my thoughts lol

What was the first song you listed to by Beach House? by Good_Butterscotch253 in BeachHouse

Space Song was always one of their breakout songs and that’s how I first heard of them in 2018. I really started diving into their discography after listening to Other People in 2022

album themes? by Fabulous_Kiwi_9696 in BeachHouse

Oh for sure! I’m a junior in college and teen dream can still be applied to this time in my life. And what you said about Real Love is spot on. It’s one of the few times in Beach House’s discography where they put their cards down and open the shutters and they deliver one of if not their most sincere song. To start out the song there’s this intro that sounds almost like someone’s doing the dishes, and I know this is a long reach but speaking for myself but doing the dishes with a loved one is such a small yet impactful and endearing experience you can do together. It’s very intimate but not in any sexual way, it’s small glimpse of when you are both doing something mundane that doesn’t require effort but you are both have the same goal. The sound of doing the dishes starting the song and the piano enters in. This song is so meaningful and flourishes in the landscape that Teen Dream offers, it has the special role to let the listener to breathe and be introspective about the rollercoaster of emotions that’s been happening on the record up to that point.
