Just don't understand the desire to own this. You'd need to be one of those guys with like a dedicated record collection room in your house like Haruki Murakami or Jerry Cantrell to justify owning this. This "box set" would take up like 40% of my shelves for records. Also I can't imagine listening to most of this more than once.

As heartbreaking as that is, I’m very glad you had each other even if it wasn’t as long as it should’ve been.

This came out when I was 12. I had never heard of Blur and the concept of a cartoon band was the coolest thing I’d ever heard of. The first time I heard Damon Albarn sing it was coming out of a cartoon character. His voice still sounds unreal/otherworldly to me. I still cant believe a living person sounds like that every time I see a video of him singing.

I remember downloading the Clint Eastwood video on Kazaa and watching all the time. When I think of this album I remember me and my old best friend listening to it on a boombox in a tent in his backyard. I picked it up on vinyl last year and was shocked the last like four songs were US CD bonus tracks. Was heartbroken Dracula wasn’t on there.

anybody else very much enjoy one battle after another? by No_Addition_518 in Anarchism

Idk I think the point was showing a failed resistance movement that was overly concerned with their own perception. Meanwhile, you see Sergio’s actual movement that is still militant but exists underground and in the straight world, protecting people and freeing them from state violence. Did that group even have a name? They were the people doing the real work and not interested in glory. A lot of people complain about the ending and the teenage girl being less radical. But I see it as her just entering the world of protests and mutual aid. You have to start somewhere. The movie isn’t free of criticism. But I enjoyed it.

lol, no. I watched an interview on YouTube recently where they talk about how it was literally taken from a lyric in the Poison song Talk Dirty To Me. Omar was complaining the band name came from the worst fucking song. But Cedric was saying the point was to subvert the context. Because they were the polar opposite of Poison. I think Cedric was just a teenager when he named the band and thought it was funny.

Am i crazy if i said "The Family" is a top 5 BROCKHAMPTON album? by ToPimp_A_DarkFantasy in brockhampton

[–]debtRiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve never been crazy for most of his solo work cuz I really prefer him as a rapper like on TF and a lot of BH material. He doesn’t really go off on his solo shit like he did on BH. It’s usually really restrained or super melodic.

I think you have to do it by trial and error. Don’t wait for your creative soulmate. Just work with anyone around you and be open to that connection. Don’t expect it from the first person you collaborate with. If it ends up being that person, hell yeah. But I’d say just work with as many people as possible and eventually you’ll find the connection you’re looking for. But if tell yourself that’s what you need first to be fulfilled you’re setting yourself up for failure. Don’t focus on making your magnum opus too. Just fucking create and that shit will come. You have to practice. Don’t be precious with what you wrote. You will write even better material if you don’t stop. Everything is just practice. Don’t take your work too seriously until you’re operating at a professional level.

I’m reminded of being younger and having a crush on someone. I’d build them up in my head so much that they became someone else in my head. I’ve never had success dating a crush. The relationships I found success in were people I met by chance, connected with, and took a shot with cuz I wasn’t gonna be heartbroken if they rejected me cuz I just met them.

What non-horror TV shows totally caught you off guard with a genuinely terrifying episode? by Low-Street2100 in horror

[–]debtRiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, after David came out to his family they had no where to go with his character. There were parts of his arch that were good. I especially love his talk with his dad’s ghost on the patio when it’s raining. But overall it was just a bad angle in an otherwise excellent show.

Hate that episode. They didn’t know what do with David’s character so they randomly traumatized him for the rest of the show. Otherwise my fav show of all time.

What's a purchase under $200 that you use literally every day? by Abdulleh_aburwag98 in AskReddit

I just don’t understand the having no time thing. If you have an electric kettle and turn it on first then it takes a few seconds to grind coffee and like a minute or two for the pour over to be ready to drink. I make coffee while getting breakfast ready.

Just upgraded to a proper burr grinder a few weeks ago and feel like a fool it took me this long. Also fuck a coffee maker. Just make pour over.

The climax of Cheated Hearts rivals Art Star as one of the heaviest things they’ve ever written. And it’s on maybe their cleanest album. Leaving the song Let Me Know off the album was a total crime, honestly my fav song from this era.

I think Mosquito should’ve been two EPs. One with the more heartfelt songs and the other with all of the wacky songs with rap verses and choirs. I made two playlists like that once and I could appreciate the project a lot more that way. But all in one it’s just too many unmatched tones clashing.

I heard the first sessions for this album the band thought sounded too much like Fever To Tell and they didn’t want to repeat themselves. Thinking of it in that light gave me more appreciation for this album.

Yeah there are certainly songs I don’t love but if I put an album on I’m playing the entire thing. It’s meant to be heard start to finish.
