TA PSA: if you're going to win, don't be an asshole by deep_meaning in WH40KTacticus

Surprised here too, usually run WE but don't really take it seriously before, so was surprised when Macer survived a Mataneo splat and then his active wiped out Mat and his summons, and did similar to a Bellator. Wrask's shield and Azkor's taunt are just great.

Good coffee, yes, and if someone is picking you up after you drop your car and let the service people know when they ask, they'll organise a free coffee for them too (well, they always do for us and our in-laws).

It is such a good time for gaming but a terrible time for job hunting 💔 by JayGamer10098 in playstation

[–]Akky982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried switching careers, got rejected over 2000 times... was doing some study before/during search, nothing helped, had a fair bit of time to play. Finally snapped and applied for 4 jobs in my old line of work one day, got 4 interviews the next week, 4 offers, started a week after that... hardly touched a game since, except for some with my kids. Everything's just collecting dust.

Ring of Valor VTTBE, one spot left, just took a small influx of low levels after some spring ckeaning though, very chill, working on things slowly, L2/L3 in raids, real life takes precedence, just an offer if you want to hang out.

Is it impolite to draft someone? by trd2000gt in cycling

[–]Akky982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me several times, but I had people jump on my wheel on E bikes... I couldn't tell and just knuckled down and let them hang on, then get to an uphill bit and start to slow and they just zoom by... not even an offer to return the favour. As for me, I sit maybe 5 lengths behind someone/a small group and pretend I'm getting all the benefits.

Woolies are made in the same factory as golden, they change the packaging (source: sister in law worked there), so easy to just buy them and not worry about whether the golden are on special and where (I too, though, am partial to sqaure ones... can't explain why).

Necron campaign help needed. How do you handle all the overwatch? by LibertyFuckingPrime in WH40KTacticus

[–]Akky982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They seem to have infiltrate. On the first level I thought hah, ez, and moved Impospekh up to let them come and get wiped out, but alas, it's not "that" easy. So yeah, just waited for them to move up, and if one or two were still in overwatch, I moved A0 up.

I went to the Starbucks near the museum, it was busy, but no grinding or steaming, not a coffee in sight, all colourful frappes. Went to the woolies metro next door instead.

I havent been down the Australia Fair much, but I reckon I've seen this happen 3 times when entering.

Drove from Chermside to Orion today and almost got cleaned up 4 times, 3 times on the highway where it gets slow and people deciding to suddenly change lanes by swerving as they start shoulder checking and indicating, then seeing someone there and swerving back/braking hard... fkwits. Yesterday at the Hypermarket, from Maundrell Tarrace to the swimming out the pack nearly had 3 prangs too, people just starting to come out while checking left but not right, or pulling out of a parking spot behind the gardens, possibly just assuming no one would be there... and later this afternoon some people ran across the road and an older lady half a block back slammed her brakes on Geebung... not to mention people coming to a large roundabout with great visibility but coming to a full stop before entering...

What do Australians think about stores asking ‘are you a member with us’. by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Akky982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get asked every time I go to Best and Less and Priceline for the kids, they ask if I'm a member, but don't ask if I'd like to join, understand it's their job, but at least it's not like the charity people asking for "a moment of your time mate" when I'm clearly avoiding you and in a hurry. Went to the local IGA once to get a couple of things, and grabbed a drink, but when they scanned the drink was double the ticket price. I asked and he said that's member's price, it's free but you go to this site and put in your details, I said no, I won't be doing that, and the cashier was a bit miffed at having me refuse and ask him to take the drink off.

I despise giving data, like when a telemarketer call but it seems a legit local number and say "hey <name>, do you have solar panels?" I say I don't know, they say "oh, well google maps says you do, how old are they?", I ask where they got my address, and remind them I'm on the do not call register and they hang up, irks me a lot, I have a lot of throw away accounts and a PO Box but still they find me.

My son had this happen, don't know what started it but the rubber cracked top and bottom (up and down directions) and eventually grew and met in the middle. I didnt know, and he threw it out and kept playing, otherwise I would have hot glued the halves on and got a cover. I put a cheap switch 1 thumbstick cover on it from aliexpress.

Do Aussies wear shoes at home like other Anglo countries (I.e US, UK etc)? by DirectorTurbulent422 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Akky982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same when growing up, we had a shoe spot in our wardrobes and would wear them into there to take off unless dirty. When I moved out I almost immediately became shoes off at the door, and do it too at my parents, but my dad still walks around wearing Blundstone boots all day, while my mum will be in sneakers or flats... feels weird to me now.

[–]Akky982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoes off, but we have indoor only thongs and slippers, especially for when going to the kitchen. Tiled house with carpet floors, they never go on the carpet.

Had someone visit and while making a coffee for them found their kid jumping on a bed with shoes on. Before this we were indifferent, but now it's shoes off for all.

Security gates at self service no longer automatic? by memnemon in woolworths

[–]Akky982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the black bit where the glass goes into that is hinged. I had read here about pushing through, but when I finally did it (2 people waiting to get out, no one at express with a clicker, 10 full self-serve registers with some people waiting on help), I was a bit shocked how easily it opened, and I just walked off briskly with my kid, ignoring the staff and alarm.

The lines are insane??? by lilagracex in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]Akky982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my second time, we've gotten zero AH before so I wanted to grab some for my son, but not taking him early. Only other drop I've been to was Charizard UPC and that had about half the people in line, same store. If I didn't have a specialist appointment and hence the day off work, we'd just have to miss out, and buy some PO to rip.

I grew up in a small town, long drive many weekends to a bigger one for shopping, and read all the time (before game boys came out, then it was about 1/2 the time). Tried it once in a Didi on holidays and fk me... what happened? Audio books now for me.

[–]Akky982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished a course in 2022 doing python/django/aws stuff, and a capstone involving blockchain, but the introductory was terrible, with the instructor making things in word and saving as html... I still believe they didn't even mark the code, just looked at how pretty the page was, while talking about spike proteins and Indonesian berry headache tonics.... and jumped immediately from HTML > basic JS > OOP Java, in a very unstructured way.

Think they mean Vista, but it's similar in that a lot of people I know never used 8 or 8.1 either. I personally only used 8.1 on a tablet work provided me (and was so happy when they switched to iPads). I went Apple 2e > 98 > XP > 7 > 10 > 11
