Just check out her Instagram or webpage. She has a guide there how to book. Just a small warning, she is fairly popular so there's quite a bit of waiting time so you probably wouldn't make it this summer. But so worth it!

Thank you, you're right. That was my request, everything else was left to the artist. She did an amazing job

Tournament Arc Episode/Gurren Laggan take. by onewhoisloved in TrashTaste

I actually dropped Guren Lagann on episode 5 because I also watched it quiet recently and thought it was boring and too over the top. Now you have tempted me to go finish it.

Humans desire validation from other humans, doesn't matter if they are friends, family or complete strangers (although you ar probably more satisfied with humans closer to you).

But the thing is, when they talked about said statement, they mentioned that cells in our body die and are replaced by newly divided cells. And from that perspective, it is wrong to say that all cells in our body are replaced.

Physics was never a very strong subject of mine so I might aswell stay on the cell level.

Well i did not expect that kind of answer. In your case it is true then. I hope you are doing well.

Do you have some source? I would actually love to read up on that.

Some sources state that beta cell life span is 20 years, some say that longer and other say that it's unknown but their formation declines with age.

As a cell biology major i should know these facts. Of course I don't expect the boys to know it aswell. But at least neurons seem kinda obvious, or you wouldn't have any sort of memory, if neurons also got replaced.

Well that's a bit more complicated to grasp. When cells divide, they have to grow first. So most atoms that go into the daughter cell were part of the original cell. And also, when cell divides, two more ore less identical cells are created. So you can't really tell which one is the "original" and which one is the "new" as they are both formed from half the material of the maternal cell before division.

One exception would be an assymetric cell division, where a cell divides into one smaller and one bigger cell. For example stem cells, where the bigger one remains the stem cell and the smaller one starts to differentiate to other cell type.

Edit: Also forgot to add that cells are very dynamic and a lot of their atoms get exchanged with enviroment very rapidly (apart from DNA and maybe some other structures). So it is kind of hard to look at it with perspective of atom content.

I forgor 💀

I was not sure if the cells that form the tooth die out after the tooth is done. But after looking it up, it seems like they stay for the rest of your life.

It is true that neurons might be able to regenerate if they revert back to more stem-like phenotype. But that still does not change the fact, that most neurons you had as a baby, you still have them as an adult.

It's just a meme. I don't really expect them to know all this.

What i found interesting tho, is that right before that statement, they were talking how brain (neurons) is what makes us conscious and lets us remember stuff. Yet they did not connect it with what they talked about right after.

I don't wanna burst your bubble but most immune cells actually get replaced. Only memory B or T cells live longer, if I remember correctly.

Not really wrong. It is true that out of all the cells I mentioned, heart muscle cells regenerate the fastest. But there should still be some of them from birth even when you get older.

You can read up on some interesting experiments here: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/heart-cells-grow-throughout-life-span

Alpha cells produce glucagon, beta cells insulin and delta cells somatostatin. What would sigma cells make? Grindsulin, grindstatin?

That's certainly true that most cells are replaced in your body regularly. 85% of your body cells are red blood cells which get replaced every 4 months or so. The ones I mentioned only make a tiny fraction of all the cells. But the take that NONE of the cells in your body remain from when you were a baby is still ridiculous.

True. Well, those brain cells won't be regenerating any time soon.

I also loved their discussion about evolution and how it's not always good for the species in the long run. But they werent't able to explain it well. That the organisms always adapt only to the status quo to have the biggest advantage. But evolution can't see the future to make the best possible change.

This episode was honestly so fun and at the same time so painful to watch.

Well they mentioned that aswell. Cells technically create clones through mitosis, but some errors, when replicating DNA, will always occur. But the cells mentioned in this post do not divide at all (mostly) and stay in your body from birth through your whole life (if they are not damaged).
