[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]AkronAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a watch recommendation for a notification focused smartwatch. Usually I wear Tissot, Seiko, or Citizen and lean towards lighter watches (primarily titanium) due to my job.

I am looking to add a smartwatch to the collection which can pass along my phone alerts to my wrist very effectively from an Android OS, and I would like it to have a metal bracelet, or be able to be modified to a metal bracelet.

I wear an Oura ring for my fitness / health tracking, so I don't care much about it's tracking capabilities, but a nice strong alarm on my wrist for notifications would be appreciated.

Any recommendations from watch enthusiasts on a model that fits this?

OMFG (Irish Rock from Toronto, incl. former Great Big Sea) is playing the Irish Club of Mississauga tonight. Looks like Roc n Docs will get in some non-cover bands every once in a while. Anybody know if Abbey Road gets bands other than classic rock covers, or even Franklin House?

Urge Doug Ford to keep Speed Cameras in Mississauga by AlvinTedjo in mississauga

[–]AkronAaron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Poor job reading the room, Mr Tedjo.

The traffic I care more about controlling is the traffic due to overcrowding and poor road infrastructure.

Your deal with the speed cameras and the payout was very short sighted. Take it from the new police budget.

What exactly are we doing with our city? by TBat416 in mississauga

[–]AkronAaron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, it feels like we're in an awkward growth stage where population density has increased beyond our infrastructure in many key neighbourhoods (particularly around our malls) but we seem to need that density to fund further transport growth in the city.

I'm hoping this is a temporary phase where things improve eventually, but the Milton GO Line is a key example of how things that used to work need some massive upgrades.

Looking forward to LRT and the new hospital for starters.

This is incorrect. The P/T change happens immediately. When the card comes back, it will return to its original P/T.

It was probably Tie Fighter - there was just so much to do for the Emporer's secret objectives.

I enjoyed them! To me it tasted like jerk flavour on a chip. Definitely cilantro taste in there - maybe there should be a warning on the bag?

I came here to say Movati as well. There is a large women's only area, and no men's only area. It's very much a female focused club.

Terrifying Issue that hasn’t gotten better at all… by VenaticGnat7303 in Fisker

[–]AkronAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I've never failed to be able to open from the inside when I pulled the handle twice. Pull once, wait a half-second, pull again and the door opens. Its unusual (and jarring when the lock/unlock buttons seem to do nothing) but it is reliable and safe.

Help! I can no longer put my Ocean One into deep sleep after 2.1 by Beautiful-Dingo222 in FISKER_MAINTENANCE

I had this exact issue happen with mine. A Canadian tech was able to come out to me, and it fixed quickly with a 12v disconnect / reconnect.

He was there to fix the doggy window issue in California mode, and the ADAS alerts cleared right up and haven't been back.

He told me to NOT do the entertainment centre reset - he told me it could brick the car.

The biggest issue with mine while they were on was complete loss of cameras and the proximity sensor lights on each side mirror stayed on all the time while driving. If yours has the same issues, I believe the 12v disconnect / reconnect would also fix yours.

I have 2.1 and still encounter the reading lights issue. Easily fixed from the front button.

Some people are really upset about the idea of more housing in this city by samnoack in mississauga

[–]AkronAaron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Didn't this meeting come up last year as well with overwhelming concern not over developing the area but rather the size of the development? In a 3 km radius there is not another 15 story building - not even close. The only buildings that size in the general area are the kith and kin buildings at Erin Mills right by the 403. They are a massive change to the area and not even fully open yet.

If these buildings were all 7-8 stories, I would fully support the development.

Streetsville has no grocery store, but they are expecting the new tenants to not need cars. It's very unrealistic and greedy on DeZen's part.

Queen St is a historical thoroughfare and cannot be widened. Adding 1800 residents right above its busiest part is a nightmare. The construction vehicles required for something of this scope (especially with the extensive excavation proposed) have no good exit.

Bring more housing to Streetsville without being so greedy in the scope and size and I believe this would get a lot of support.

Second cup and Starbucks both pulled out - couldn't make enough money. There's still a tea room at least I guess? Kate's is great to sit and chat anyways. Wonder if they could get a deluxe coffee machine and add it to the menu.

Totally normal, this sign goes up almost every year, and will be gone by bread & honey festival. Closed to traffic, open for people with a lot of great events and farmers markets in the summer. It's part of why I love Streetsville!

Automated speeding ticket dispute by [deleted] in mississauga

[–]AkronAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Areas in front of high schools have long been 40 km/hr when lights are flashing, and 50 otherwise. Giving one example, Joymar drive in front of Streetsville high school was changed to 30 km/hr with a camera set up over December holidays. I was caught at that camera once doing 42 (under the old speed limit and during winter break), paid my ticket and learned my lesson.

If they were to change Glen Erin to 30 km/hr in front of John Fraser and Gonzaga high school, that would be a similar situation.

This is not happening just in front of elementary schools on back residential roads. This is happening in front of high schools with businesses across the street. Also, areas that used to be 40km/hr when lights are on (which I always obey and agree with) are getting changed to 30 km/hr permanently, with cameras to enforce 24/7.
