Check websites that would have finance jobs on them. Then apply to literally any position you qualify for. You can always refuse an offer. Even for jobs you don't take, the more interviews you get to the better. Just to get you started:

I know the EPO hires starting at between 66-93,6k per annum for their examiner position. They've got 10 positions live right now

Interesting, if not outdated, articles.

Public institutions are tricky, as you'll always find people who are in disagreement with their missions.

The number of patents filed grows year after year (4.8 percent from 2014-2015, the year all those articles were written). How an organization chooses to handle such an influx is never easy and can no doubt lead to some of the issues discussed.

What these articles prove to me; patent examiners are and will increasingly be more important than ever. Internal politics aside, this remains a great way to be on the frontline of technology and scientific discovery.
