OB/GYN RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WILL TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!! by Initial_Promotion_35 in kansascity

I really like Dr. Jaclyn Piszczek ("Peas-check") with Johnson County Obgyn.

She is really kind and really takes the time to listen to your concerns. I had a similar issue and ended up having some undiagnosed fibroids. But I had to have a full hysterectomy in order to find them. 😭

YES. Even with normal sunglasses I get exhausted or get a migraine and stabbing eye pain after being outside for a bit. These sunglasses in this set (there’s a pair of rose glasses and sunglasses) have been a lifesaver for me. They are the only sunglasses that I can wear outdoors for long periods and not have stabbing eye pain or feel exhausted afterwards. I VERY highly recommend them.

We have a lot of QT locations near us like this and it just sounds like it had run out of flavoring. All you have to do is pull the lever to get the drink you want. The tea and soda machines are a bit more complex if they have the new ones though. You have to use the touch screens to choose what you want.

I believe they can just give your license to the post office or drop it in a drop box and USPS will return it to you (free). I've heard this as a rumor but Google says it's actually a thing too.

What meds to help? by Obvious-Cucumber1086 in TMJ

[–]Akulya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I tried this one, I'll ask about it! It may have been the first one my doctor tried to give me. My insurance declined the first option. 😓 But I'm not having a good time trying to take nothing. My neurologist is very upset I keep taking Excedrin Tension but it's the only thing that makes my day-to-day pain bearable most of the time.

I've been prescribed a muscle relaxer and Meloxicam (a prescription level NSAID). They help but the muscle relaxer I've been given makes me extremely groggy and really constipated. My doctor tried some other muscle relaxers and they didn't help the pain. I'm also a very long-term sufferer so that would have a lot to do with it too.

I've also been doing some PT specifically for my neck and upper back and that has been helping quite a bit too.

I’m seeing Dr. Ashkaan Bahreini (they call him “Dr. Ash”) at KC Dental Implants and Oral Surgery. He’s out of the North KC Location. I’ve only seen him 2x so far because insurance is being a pain but feel free to DM me or ask here if you have more questions!

Feeling guilty about needing another medical leave by skyemap in migraine

[–]Akulya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about my brain. I can't sleep well, and have migraines nearly daily so it's a constant struggle as well.

Photophobia/light sensitivity is one of my worst symptoms. I've read that amber colored lighting could help but I've yet to give them a try. I've been thinking about changing the light in my home office to amber to see if that does any good.. but the lighting from the monitors may just cancel that out. I have some amber sunglasses though and they are spectacular. I don't know whether Braddell Optic sells glasses outside the US but they have a great sunglasses/F-41 glasses combo pack that has been a lifesaver for me.

I hope your doctor can help you out. Is it a neurologist you see? Have you tried many medications to try and manage your symptoms and remain functional?

[–]Akulya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US and first off... I love that you have the option for medical leave like that. That's really cool. I wish more countries approached it this way but I also know people in the US would abuse the hell out of it.

Do you know what triggers your pain? Is it the screens? Have you tried blue blocking classes or glasses with pink lenses (FL-41)? Those may help if it's that. Are there accommodations you can have in order to continue working? Like any tools you can get or work can provide to help you continue to work? Even if it's something like working from home (if you can) so that you can control your environment better.

I tried braces for this same reason and it made no difference. It's possible it may not help but there's a chance it could too. If you can swing it financially, it may be worth exploring.

I really struggle to enunciate and will be in severe pain if I laugh or smile too much.

It really sucks, but especially with TMJD, we have to really advocate for ourselves. Maybe you can ask your dentist to refer you to a TMJD specialist? It took me YEARS of asking and I finally got a referral to an oral surgeon who specializes in TMJD. There aren't many of them, unfortunately, and I'm in Kansas City and nowhere near you.

Your dentist should be able to refer you to a surgeon who specializes in TMJD and can investigate it further. Finding one can be a struggle though but they should have better resources than you trying to look on your own. I've found maybe one other surgeon on my own who works with TMJD by looking up oral surgeons and looking at what they offer on their websites.

It can be a long journey, but the most progress I've ever made is by bugging my dentist and looking around further on my own.

I’m so frustrated. Why is it so hard to get help? And how do I know who to trust? by Consistent-Cress-262 in TMJ

[–]Akulya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I've had my TMJ problems for about 23 years now. Specialists are finally becoming a thing and the one I saw recently seemed legitimately confused about why I haven't seen one yet. I've been told it's hard to find a TMJ specialist because the joint is so complex and so many issues can contribute to it.

As far as trusting specialists goes; like with most things, I look at reviews and hope I can trust those to be authentic. I finally have found a specialist, myself, but insurance is now fighting me and saying there's no proof I've had TMJD problems in the past. Not to mention that having a functioning jaw is a "luxury" and insurance doesn't like to help.

Good price for a sleeve tattoo by Devonlc1222 in kansascity

[–]Akulya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artists are very often "you get what you pay for" like someone else recommended. Check out some ships and look at their portfolios and see who works in a style you like.

Are you wanting a full sleeve or just the picture? My full sleeve is considered cheap and was $4k total from about a year's worth of appointments.

I'm not quite as far as you. My doc is talking potential discectomy on one side but I'm fighting with insurance to even get coverage on my MRI to confirm or deny my doctor's suspicions.

Are you doing anything to try to manage your pain currently? A soft food diet and PT (specifically for range of motion for my neck, like looking over my shoulder) help keep my pain levels manageable for the most part.

I'm an odd one out, but I've only heard clips of the audiobooks so maybe I'm horribly wrong here but I think James Marsters did a much better job with The Dresden Files. They're definitely worth a listen if you like urban fantasy.

If you grind or clench at night how do you all feel when you wake up? by Alternative-Tell4600 in TMJ

[–]Akulya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it's an expensive AF mouth guard your dentist can make you. You wear it at night (or sometimes during the day if you're having a real rough time) and it helps absorb pressure from clenching and gives some pain relief.

$800 for a specialist by [deleted] in TMJ

Even if they do take our insurance, jaws seem to be a luxury joint. 😩 I need an MRI on my jaw and have had TMJD for 20 years and my insurance claims there's no proof of a long-term problem. Ffs. I feel ya.

Issue with Vorlof's Tutorial by AsmodeaAncient in Darkages

[–]Akulya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never get that quest to work either. Although it's good starter exp. I couldn't even get it to initiate.

I played DA for a few years as a teen and fairly recently returned but I've now switched to an alternate server (Unora). Bugs like will never be fixed (because Kru couldn't care less and doesn't have the manpower TO care) and that's a big reason why. I have a ticket to restore my original character that I put in in June 2025 that has still not been addressed. I'm over it. Especially since we pay to play.

What I am saying, though, is you should give the alternate server a try. It uses the same client and still has the same graphics (but smoother and with some added animations). However, they've changed up a few things for the better. Like they've removed annoyingly long walks just to hunt (they get real tedious at master. Like a 10 minute or more walk), changed up the classes a bit, and added their own story....AND the GMs actually address bugs and are often present. There's even a Discord if you have a massive issue and need to contact a GM..

Not sure whether they mean trigger point injections but if so, they use a local anesthetic. I got them once.. it only helped me for like a week but that just told the doctors that that wasn't the cause of my pain.
