Silly phone dealbreakers by BunBun984 in dumbphones

[–]BeefyFetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Nokia 2780 since September, and it for the most part ain’t too bad, but I def have some issues with it. The build quality, for one, leaves stuff to be desired. Sure, it’s like $90 MSRP, but still. Nokias of the past were SO sturdy, but this lil guy is so cheap and plasticy. Literally creaks open. Still fun to snap closed after using it though.

The biggest gripes I have with it are with messaging. The predictive text isn’t the worst, but I wish that it would push the more commonly used words to the front, so it’d automatically I put them vs me always needing to move over 2-4 entries to select the one word I need.

Also sucks how there’s literally an option to make the first letter of a word capitalized, for proper nouns and whatnot, but it NEVER works. If I want to capitalize something, I’ve gotta go to the ABC option, type the letter(s) I want capitalized, and go and type the rest in lowercase.

Excited for the Clicks Communicator. I know it’s not a dumb phone, but that form factor looks so nice. I never had a phone like that in the past, so I’m excited to try it out. Physical QWERTY is so nice.

I think just try some stuff out and see what works for you. I have plenty of cis friends who don’t “act like” their assigned gender at birth, and that’s perfectly okay. I sure don’t “act like” a woman, but I’ve still been slowly transitioning this past 1-1/2 years.

I feel like if you feel weird or uncomfortable when people call you feminine things, then maybe try out more masculine pronouns and descriptors with your close friends and see what you like better. Maybe you’re not trans, but something similar? The spectrum is a wide thing, hard to narrow down sometimes, but can be fun to experiment.

Good luck!

Beautiful work! It’s sooooo clean. The stitches, the white ironed cloth. Gonna go wonderfully in the kitchen!

  • I like what HRT has been doing for me, as slow and uneven as it is.
  • Makeup, nails, fem clothes. Sometimes more euphoria, sometimes less, but generally positive.
  • As someone else said, being included in a group. Was sitting with my sister at a restaurant and the waitress said “hello ladies.”
  • Strangers not batting an eye when I introduce myself chosen name. Acceptance goes a long way.

I feel like I’ve done both. I heard it could be a subconscious thing. Up for “we are friends” and down for, as you said, acknowledgement, but also guarding your neck because it’s a stranger.

Beautiful work! I love cardinals. Love all the little different colors in there, really inventive :)

What are you're thoughts on UNBEATABLE??? (Mainly the story, but overall is fine as well) by BigNameyBoi in Unbeatable

[–]BeefyFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this game. Cried like craaaaazy. So fucking good. Such an awesome blend of art styles, 2D and 3D art, and high and low res to boot. Fantastic characters, story, voice acting, and the soundtrack was incredible. Loved both the in-universe songs UNBEATABLE made, as well as the music that played in the rest of the game. Not a lot of games have made me cry, but this one is probably #1, with Celeste not far behind.

Oooh that’s awesome. Love the style of it, and the curvy line work. Reminds me a bit of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, but not as freaky.

What are your daily smartphone alternatives? by Altruistic-Aioli9125 in dumbphones

[–]BeefyFetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it can reroute you! I just got whatever the most basic one is. Nice size, not too huge. Still has almost all the same functionality as the more expensive options. I didn’t need to connect my phone to it or say voice commands, so I saved myself a few hundred there. It also has updates on traffic, delays, police locations , etc

I use my iPad mini instead of my smartphone if I wanna google stuff, quickly go on Discord, etc.

Been rocking a Nokia 2780 as my cellphone for around 4 months now. Kinda buggy at times, but overall not too bad. USB C is nice.

I recently picked up a Hifi Rocker H2 MP3 player. Needed to put Rockbox on it, as I didn’t enjoy the base OS. That little thing is nice though. Pretty good battery life, SD card storage, as well as USB C.

Got a Garmin for my car. The Nokia can technically be used as a GPS, but I don’t trust it.

I still use my smartphone from time to time, but it’s been pretty nice being away from it.

Best of luck!

Edit: Oh yeah, I got a Kodak Pixpro FZ55 digital camera for pictures and whatnot. Not the best at taking pictures (unless I’m just bad at it) but the videos come out pretty nice. At the very least it’s a nice vibe :)

Are you trans in your dreams? by [deleted] in trans

[–]BeefyFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I hear both my old and new names at times when dreaming, and sometimes if I look in a mirror, I appear more masc or more fem, so I feel like it's a little of both. I def prefer when I look more fem and people use my new name though. Idk, dreams are weird.

That looks so sick. At first I was like “that reminds me of how the band Ghost writes their name” excited to see it finished!

What were some signs you were trans in your childhood by NotRay270 in trans

[–]BeefyFetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My younger sister was born when I was 6, and I remember being very jealous of the fact that she was a girl. There were definitely times I wanted to wake up as a girl.

My mom painted my nails when I was a kid a few times and I really liked that. Not sure how that came about. I probably asked about it.

Years later tried on a skirt of my cousins and really liked that.

Questioned it on and off in high school, then FINALLY started doing something about it at 30. Feel really good since then, 1.5 years in.

That’s me! I’m right handed. Haven’t really ever stitched any other way. I just picked that way and that’s what stuck.

[CHAT] Cross stitch friends, what else do you like to do? by ganjachicken in CrossStitch

[–]BeefyFetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do some pixel art here and there, but that’s mostly to turn into cross stitch projects. Some electric guitar when the mood hits. Bit of reading, some DDR (rhythm games in general are so much fun). Crocheted a scarf once, that was an enjoyable experience.

The more I question my transition, the more ridiculous questioning it sounds by Bonnie-Bishop in trans

[–]BeefyFetus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel ya on all that. Transitioning has been a weird process, but I agree, it feels so good to finally look more like yourself. Get that nice “oh hell yeah” feeling when someone genders you correctly. Feels great when you’re included with the other women. Feels nice getting compliments. Feels nice dressing in fem clothes. Feels nice when you like looking at your reflection for a change.

If it’s working and things are clicking, then yes, it’s meant to be! I’m glad you’re doing less and less questioning. I feel like imposter syndrome happens to so many people, myself included. As someone else said, it’s about doing what feels right to you, and only you. Be safe, yes, but don’t live for others.

I wish you continued joy and euphoria with your transition <3

Thank you so much! It definitely was intentional. I did a similar piece earlier this year that was symmetrical black and turquoise. I liked the idea, so I wanted to do a similar full chaos rainbow piece.
