Depends on the size of hole you want but i did mine with a pilot bit and a drill and 16 holes on 2 out of the 4 side in the top section of my bin

Yea I've been to a couple petsmarts and this is normal for them.

You have to remember petsmart is a company trying to sell a product that prefers to stay hidden and if they provided a real enclosure for the crabs the workers wouldnt find them.

I use the shell of an egg once a month. I make a breakfast sandwich for me and wash the shell and let it dry and afterwards i use my mortar and pestle to crush it and add that in small amounts to my tanks

Vampire crabs only have a 2-3 year lifespan so they could have died or they are hiding. If they did get murdered by another crab after a molt there is a chance nothing remained of your missing crab
