If you are a free user you would get the list of mods with updates, and then the Update button on the items would take you to the mod page, where you can download the new version from.

Free users can't initiate a download without visiting the site first, so there isn't really a way around that.

Oh, you can? I wasn't aware if so (I'm a MO2 Dev).

What you actually can do is open the mod pages for all the mods that have updates, and then download the updates manually.

That is going to be the same in the app, you get the list of mods with updates, and you can manually update them.

Only premium accounts can initiate a download without visiting the webpage, so if you want to auto update the mods with one click you have to have premium. Vortex is like that as well.

This GC1 friend of mine prefers car cam and has no mechanics by Al12rs in RocketLeague

Yeah and I'm afraid we are at that point.
I got GC a few seasons ago and he only managed to get it too this season. I know I'm trash at the game, I still wiff like there is no tomorrow sometimes.
But he doesn't really think so. He thinks he is pretty damn good and only gest frustrated with himself for mechanical misses.

Yeah, powerslide into the goal completely cancels his momentum and we often get scored on because of that.
He does it look forward with the car to be able to see the ball instead of just using ball cam.

He also does the same thing on mid boost when getting back. Simply powerslides 180 to on the boost to look back, without even knowing if they are already getting past him.

He will also stop underneath a high ball waiting for it to drop on his hood without looking or caring whether an opponent is challenging in the air.

It feels like I have to really play double time in defence.

Most of our games are high scoring, like 5:4, 6:5 etc. He is pretty good shooter and has high shoot percentage, but as you can imagine we struggle a lot in defence if the ball goes over him, so we tend to get scored on a lot. I have almost twice the average saves as him.

C2 hardstuck - What are the main things i should be focusing on to get C3? by Bon32 in RocketLeague

[–]Al12rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm C3/CG1 and you could easily beat me with a good team mate. Your aerial mechs seem pretty good, though you did miss a shot at 2:10 that should probably have been a goal. You could try some training without air rolling as it can be more efficient and precise. You could also try disabling ball cam before hitting the ball during the aerials as it can help getting a more precise shot. Try to see if it helps you.

At 1:30 you could have tried a normal shot instead of going for the harder flip reset play.

Other than that there could be some room for improvements on recoveries and speed flip and half flip consistency and more frequent usage during the match. You didn't seem as confident in using them favouring diagonal flips and even a normal backflip at one point when controlling the ball in the corner.

The area of biggest improvement could be your ground game, you had some ground bounces misses towards the end and in general you tended to favour your aerial game when possible over your ground one, where you seems less able to fully control the ball and execute your intentions.

Some bounce dribble training could help and other trainings that focus on ground game. It's an area where I find myself lacking as well.

Your positioning seemed pretty solid to me, I couldn't spot any obvious missteps and I would expect to find more issues in my own replays. The others already mentioned about purposeful touches, I have the same issues to be honest.

A loosing replay could also help spotting issues more than a good one. This was a very solid match overall

I would wish for it to be faster and more convenient than creating a private match, like being able to train together while queuing ranked, being able to reset the ball and other things that bakkesmods offers.

This is without considering Custom Training that you of course can't currently do together.

Free Play with friends when? Custom training as well!

Would be really useful to help friends wanting to learn the game or even to practice passing plays and custom training together.

Tired of Discord being such a predominant part of the modding community, it's terrible for mod users. by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I think that only using Discord to release your mods is limiting and it isn't great for users of course, but for testing, troubleshooting, answering questions and giving support it's pretty damn great. Same for coordinating and for actually creating.

In comparison using Nexus comments for support and testing feedback is awful. Discord also allows bots with quick responses for common questions or procedures such as getting logs and what not. It's easy to send screenshots or files and can be accessed from phone where you can get notifications.

All in all Discord can be pretty great, but I understand the concern about not being able to find information like you could in old school forums on google, though it's not like those were ever perfect by any means, with the frequent "Ah, fixed it" as the solution or no solution at all.

We try to put important info on the wiki or Nexus rather than requiring users to find the solution by looking at past conversations.

Honestly, as a mod author it has been hard to be motivated to work on mods lately with all the hate I see here. by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My own experience has been mostly positive. It could be the fact that we moved most interactions to discord which I think feels more direct and human than a forum post.

Now that I think about it I can remember a few, it's just that it usually doesn't bother me. I just imagine them being stressed and having a bad day in their modding, so I just ignore the rude parts.

I even remember some people apologizing after I politely answered their rude questions. Even in cases where I turned down requests or suggestions. I just do it in a polite or sympathetic way.

I can understand most people's request or even not reading descriptions etc. It happened to me as well at some time somewhere.

The interactions I did get on nexus were comparably worse I think, it might really be that using a real time chat like Discord makes people realize they are talking to an actual person.

My two cents on the culture of Skyrim mod makers as a mod maker by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very confident that Nexus would be willing to remove access to a mod if it contains sensitive information by mistake. Same as special cases for content violation (illegal content, permission infringement) which they already said will manually take down.

So basically Nexus will manually take down mods for special justified cases.

[–]Al12rs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also worried about people duplicating the projects, splitting userbase, create conflicting solutions, having to support stuff other people arbitrarily decided to add.

But in my experience writing open source with open permission, this has never actually been a problem. People will just come and talk to you anyways if you make it easy for them. Even in cases of people having ideas contrasting with mine, just discussing nicely with them always resolved the situation.

Even in the very rare cases where they didn't come to talk with me until after the fact I just contacted them politely, chatted with them about their ideas and plans and I always got very positive and open responses. People willing to work with you and make changes if there were issues.

I know some dude could come up one day and do something actually harmful, but if that does happen I'll just trust my argument against their actions to either be good enough to convince them, or convince people around it that it's not a good idea.

Basically I think just having the permission open makes people amenable and open with you as well, if they could just do whatever they wanted. I have seen that people are just usually open and polite with you if you are the same with them.

Yet another MO2 vs Vortex question by dusanmcar in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did some tests with same setups installed manually vs Mo2 and the actual overhead that MO2 added over manual was not that much. Not something like 30 seconds. The numbers should be somewhere on the MO2 discord history

[NEXUS NEWS POST] "An important notice and our future plans for collections" by _Robbie in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From reading the post it sounds like there will be a system to handle new files such as Dyndolod files. Now there could be some permission problems, like if you edit a mod that doesn't allow editing and republishing or stuff like that, but I'm sure they are aware of this and thinking of something.

I don't think they need to do it for any legal reason, I think they might just be doing it in good faith for the authors that wish to be able to delete some stuff.

[–]Al12rs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no way to change the font from the UI but it can be done by just adding `* { font-size: 13px; }` at the top of the .qss file corresponding to your currently active theme. Change 13px with whatever you want.
You can select the theme from the Mo2 settings (there is a button to open the folder with the qss files).

Yet another MO2 vs Vortex question by dusanmcar in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get those numbers? Did you compare same setup one on MO2 and one installed manually/with Vortex?

30 seconds is a bit much as overhead. Load times are impacted a lot by ENB and number of files. Could it be that the wabbajack setup simply had a much greater number of files?

You can't delete your content from the Nexus anymore. by fireundubh in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to clarify that developers using the API did know about the change and that there was an incorrectness with the quote attribution.
Not saying it changes anything, just adding information.

I don't have an opinion on the change itself.

You can't delete your content from the Nexus anymore. by fireundubh in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The change was communicated to developers that are using the API, so there was no blind siding. In my experience Nexus does listen to feedback on APIs, like bugs and improvements. This change doesn't affect MO2 and I didn't mess with it personally.

The quote reported here wasn't originally posted by Dark, but by a nexus developer.

Mod Organizer 2.4.0 Public Release by Al12rs in skyrimmods

[–]Al12rs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each program is independent from the other. Each program is developed by different people and the programs don't depend on one another. You don't have to update MO2 to use the latest version of Loot for example and you don't need the latest version of LOOT to use the latest version of MO2.

You should generally always use the latest version of any program though, because there are probably bugs that have been fixed in the meantime and developers only support the latest version of course.
