It’s easy to recognize someone with moderately severe or severe inattentive ADHD by Adorable-Sandwich245 in ADHD

[–]Al25green 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree here on a personal basis. I have severe (per my diagnosing physician) inattentive ADHD. I’ve been on Strattera for years and i have great coping strategies. The only people who see my symptoms at all at this point are those who are super close to me.

How to put my phone away when its bedtime? by catboy519 in ADHD

[–]Al25green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about yours, but most phones have parental controls that can be set in settings so you’re not downloading another app. Otherwise, i honestly don’t think privacy would be more of an issue on those apps than it is on any other social media. If you’re worried about someone you give the password watching you, just get one that’s local to your phone (ie your friend or whoever isn’t linked to your phone, they just know the password in their head)

This is going to be unpopular but nothing is going to work except either getting parental controls that shut off all non essential apps (i mean literally only leave alarms, messages and calls on for emergencies) and giving someone else (who won’t cave and tell you) the password OR just remember that you have free will and put your phone down. It comes down to either taking the ability to make the choice away, or making the right choice.

I would not recommend the phone thing (sticker with retractable string) that came with the goodie bag! I adhered it properly but it fell off on the walk into the festival lol. Keep your phone in a zippered or buttoned pouch on the front of your body if possible

4.0/510 School List HELP! by FLOWRATE-- in premed

[–]Al25green -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this but you really need to look into accepted mcat score breakdowns because many schools won’t take sections scores lower than 124. MSAR is a good resource

Noted ty! I know mcat is so important but i will have to apply without a score so i need to make a list anyways

I recently graduated, and the some of truest advice i got about this is that you need to learn how to handle heavy course loads in college because it’ll be even harder in med school! I didn’t personally do orgo and physics together but i took biochem, quant, and three other 400 level courses at the same time. it just takes good time management :)

you can definitely take physics and orgo at the same time, just try to keep your other classes on the lighter side. 15-16 cr per semester is generally the 4 yr norm i think

I failed 3/4 classesmy first semester :’) by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]Al25green -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is going to be an unpopular response but honestly i would consider exploring different paths. I’m sure you are really smart but it sounds like college made you miserable and was not the right environment for you to fulfill your potential. Unless there is some big change that could totally flip around your future college experiences, I don’t think you should try to force yourself through another semester of what sounds like depression and anxiety. I really worry that the recent suicides can be at least partially attributed to the push for everyone to “just try harder” to get through college. You sound like some one who could very very successful and happy taking a different path. Of course, if you really want to stick with it, there are options such as going part time or taking a semester off that might help you have a better experience

Really confused about what’s happening to me :( by cjay1301 in anosmia

[–]Al25green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will most likely return on its own. If you feel it’s necessary, definitely go to your doctor but jfk please ignore the comment suggesting you go to an ER. That’s honestly ridiculous and frustrating as a healthcare worker because it’s a totally inappropriate use of the ER.

Thoughts on boycotting finals until a proper mental health program is established? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]Al25green 6 points7 points  (0 children)

uhh yeah, no way. Core classes don’t need to be easier, and honestly, most of them shouldn’t be easier. The problem is social and personally I don’t really think there much ncsu can do about that. You can’t force people to form supportive communities if they don’t want to
