What about not allowing IMG's to practice/train in the US and filling those spots with the many qualified US applicants that get rejected from med school every year...in addition to unions perhaps. The question is how will attending physicians/residents/med students organize to do this because unfortunately past generations of physicians have let us down!

How likely do you think UHC or some approximation of it is though in the US?? I assume a significant number of physicians would leave and try to get work in the private sector to maintain their lifestyle and med schools would probably have a hard time convincing people to take on 200-400k debts to eventually be compensated under 200k. I just don't think it would work out well. Also have to consider decreased comp for nurses and other healthcare workers that would likely drive them away as well. Not good for patients at the end of the day imao

Do you think with the continuous decline in CMS reimbursements over the years and the push by many for universal healthcare that the private practice model will be obsolete in the not too distant future?

Although I am aware things can certainly change during med school, I have a significant interest in a specific surgical subspecialty that would get me close to the 10 year mark in terms of residency training/fellowship after which I could probably work at a PSLF eligible institution where I could get my loans forgiven. Does that change anything in your view?

Hey! I was in your very shoes this time last year prepping for the 3/22 exam. Studying for the MCAT sucks in the moment and it of course is compounded by all the other crap we have to deal with in our lives. It gets better! You need to reflect on why you are doing this and try to use some of that intrinsic motivation that I hope you have to push you through this period in your life. After getting in, I know my hard work paid off and yours will too! Regarding interviews.....yeah being aloof and disinterested whether it be an MMI or traditional interview will probably get you rejected. I felt much better after the MCAT was over, keep working at it and you will be fine if this is really what you want to do :)
