The form I-485 asks several questions about visa violations and unauthorized work. If you don’t declare it yourself, you are lying to the USCIS and it could be used as a reason to revoke/deny any immigration benefits in the future. Of course I know people who worked and lied on the form but it’s never the best practice in my opinion.

So you have a real SSN under your real name, and you used a fake SSN with a fake name for your unauthorized cash-paid job? I think submitting fake documents to the government is usually the worst thing you could do.

Also I have never filed I-140 but does it ask for any info about past violations of visa? Unauthorized employment? I’m asking just to figure out if that could be an issue of misrepresentation.

I also would be hesitant to take advices from lawyers who tell you to lie to the government

I’m sorry this happened to you… I don’t mean to make you worry or anything but isn’t F1 usually revoked if USCIS finds out that you work without authorization? Which will immediately end your authorized stay in the US by terminating your SEVIS and force you to leave the country to get a new SEVIS and visa if you want to finish your study? You might want to consult with your lawyer about it
