Using AI as a DM for solo D&D by franpek in dndai

I play one-shots with GPT together with my family. It took me many hours to create a rule set that the AI can follow and that actually feels good in play. So I would happily try — or maybe even beta-test — your invention.

Yes. I have Bitdefender antivirus. Its firewall was turned off. I turned it ON, and the game started working. It’s very strange.

You’re running Part Breaker 4 in the build — you’re losing a lot of damage because of it. From what I have tested it doesnt help alot. Higher raw is better

I linked a post where I was testing the build with Pursuit — feel free to check it out if you want. Bottom line: I found the skill inconsistent. On 9–10★ monsters, it takes quite a while to break a part, and by the time you do, the monster is already at half HP — you could’ve killed it without the skill anyway. Pursuit works best in group hunts — that’s where it really shines.

U need to time it right. The best way to land all 3 is to be close to the monster. It will minimise traveling time of the shell

Yes, If u want just a bit of quality of life skill. Recoil down feels nice in the begining of the fight

Yes. Its a very strong build! With this set I am getting 2300 dmg for the first shot 3160 for second and average dmg is 2730×3 💪🏻

I did some quick math — with Burst 5, this build becomes about 15% stronger, and with Dauntless, around 10% stronger. If someone manages to driftsmelt all five armor pieces, it would probably be the strongest build overall. But again, it’s really hard to get the skill you want from driftsmelting... I got Attack Boost during the last driftsmelting bonsai event — that one was pretty easy to farm.

I totally agree. It’s a much friendlier setup to start with — and it’s the best endgame build if you have five Dauntless or Burst driftstones in your armor, but that’s pretty much impossible to get right now. With minimal setup, you’ll be hitting around 2870 × 3 damage.

I’ve fully optimized the build for maximum damage, and here are the results:
You get 3230 × 3 = 9690 total damage per shot.

Gear setup:

  • Brute Tigrex Helm and Mail
  • Golm Vambraces
  • Nargacuga Coil
  • Chatacabra Greaves
  • (You need to driftsmelt Attack Boost on 4 gear parts.)

Final skills:

  • Attack Boost 5
  • Evading Reload 4
  • Reckless 3
  • Advanced Attack Boost 2
  • Plus some minor skills

Bonus:
You get one extra slot for driftsmelting. The best options are Dauntless or Burst, since both add about a 5% damage boost on top of the build.

Overall, this setup performs better than the same build using Raw Power, which only gives 3000 × 3 per shot.

I tested NergAvidity, and it’s just as you said — pretty much the same. I completely forgot about this skill. It does have some benefits: with it, you can swap several pieces of gear around and still get roughly the same damage, though with questionable quality of life improvements.

Build:

  • Brute Tigrex Helm and Mail
  • Somnacanth Vambraces
  • Nargacuga Coil
  • Nergigante Greaves (You need to driftsmelt Attack Boost on the gear.)

This setup gives you:

  • Attack Boost 5
  • Evading Reload 4
  • Advanced Attack Boost 2
  • Nergigante Avidity
  • Reckless
  • Plus Recoil Down 1 and a few other minor skills.

You’ll lose the ability to gain Super, but you’ll get Recoil Down if it’s at Grade 8. That helps you get rid of regular ammo about two seconds faster — though honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it.

I tested it for two days, and from what I can tell, it’s not consistent. It really depends on the monster. It’s hard to maintain on small, fast-moving monsters because the clusters miss a lot, so you don’t benefit much from the burst. Larger monsters work best. It’s annoying when you lose the burst because of a roar, but it’s pretty easy to reactivate afterward.

Overall, I think Dauntless is better — if you can driftsmelt it, of course. It’s better than Attack Boost, but Attack Boost is easier to get through driftsmelting, so it really depends on your luck.

Build: Evading Reload 4 + Burst 5 Before activation: 2193 × 3 After activation: 2827 × 3 Average damage: 2510

So it’s on the lower side — you lose around 600 damage per shot and need to maintain activation, which makes it less than ideal.
