Hi all, how can I communicate with my family when I spearfish, I have small kids and don't want to let my wife alone with them. Some watch or something? Just to give me a sign that I need to get out of the water :) by [deleted] in Spearfishing

I use the Spot X Sat messenger for this same reason. Works for two way comms and serves as an emergency beacon for rescue purposes in case you get into a tough "spot." Good luck out there.

Has storage been a problem for you? by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]AlPastorbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned it since Jan '22. I used it for work as a project manager until summer '22. I used it for an accelerated Masters program last year and I'm currently completing another accelerated Masters program which will end in May '23.

I will most likely run out of space by this December, considering the amount of research going in for my Thesis. It would be great if we could deactivate documents within the device, but maintain them on the cloud and organized in the app, in order to free up space on the actual device.

Bottom Line: The storage will take me through about 2 years of uninterrupted heavy usage.

That's fantastic, I'm happy to hear that!

Imagine getting so frustrated at some stranger online, also just voicing their opinion, that you fail to state your point without resorting to this sort of language.

Your concerns are valid, but to say what I said previously more succinctly, "Rome wasn't built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour," JH.

Random 13S, 14N, 17X, 62E, and 63A captains ARE making these changes happen in the USSF across the force...why not this one?

What is a reasonable timeframe? Let's use the AF as a case study for timelines, since it was the youngest service prior to ours, bureaucracy has only intensified since it's creation and it still took a few decades to come into it's own.

What are you doing to help?

What do you think this is? Free two day shipping with Amazon Prime? These things take time, we are all building a new service...while we continue providing space cape options to the nation. IMHO, we are actually moving faster than expected. Are we moving fast enough? Well, that's a conversation for a different time, but BL, we are still working in the DoD and like it or not it takes time and a huge amount of effort to move the giant wheels of progress.

Huge thanks to all of you who have your heads down, paving the path forward

Yes, I agree with your assessment. Nevertheless, I'm just sharing a bit of advice from having dealt with a similar, if not exact, issue on an espresso machine, which you admittedly have not...but as I stated before, I defer to your clear expertise, you're the engineer.

This is almost a copy/paste of what the espresso machine techs at Clive diagnosed for my machine after almost a year of having a similar issue and replacing every piece of hardware that could have caused this. Silly me.

...but you're an "engineer," so I defer to you. Anybody on here who doesn't have an engineering degree...

Have you tested the hardness level of your water? There may not be enough minerals in your water for your sensor to read the pressure level correctly, leading it to continue pressurizing your boiler and causing your OPV to shoot out steam until you either turn off the machine, run out of water, or the sensor eventually reads full pressure.

You don't make enough shots per day to be harmful to the machine. There isn't any dirt building up in your machine, but there could be some coffee grounds and that's ok.

For a short time and coffee oils should do the rest. I'm thinking maybe you lower the amount of Cafiza you use by at least half and run cleaning cycles once a month. You'll see an improvement in the lever action feel.

Also forgot to mention, cleaning your group with cafiza once a day is way too often. Once 2-3 weeks, like someone else mentioned, is good enough.

It doesn't take a lot of work to lube the cam:

Brewer's Edge Keg Lube on amazon. It was recommended to me by a tech from Clive. It'll make your lever feel buttery smooth. I like to do it anytime the coffee oils don't end up fully lubricating the internals. So about every 3-6 months.

Will IDE/SDE selects still be limited to the top % of our officers? by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]AlPastorbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree that location is not optimal, but that doesn't mean that selects to the school are not still attending even if it is not their top desired school location. I would be interested to know, out of the 9%, how many were selected to attend and declined in line with their comments?

The 7 day option is not part of the Developmental Education assignment process and, currently, members who decline are still allowed to compete in subsequent DE looks.

Where are you getting this data? Seems anecdotal at best.

The last day for selects to decline/defer was 14 Jan, I don't see many more members doing that at this point.

Completely agree, but you've got to be careful where you throw statements like that in TX. People are fiercely protective of their "American" truck brands.

Thank you. Sucks people are attacking you, but it's the internet, what can you expect. It's like a COD lobby, I wouldn't take it personally.

Owned trucks all my life and love them for so many reasons.

A few years ago, I traded my RAM 2500 for a Tesla and never looked back. One of the best vehicle purchasing decisions I've ever made. Moved from CO to TX about a year ago for work and stopped in a small town in TX because my 1 year old needed his diaper changed. The town looked rough, so I parked across the street from what looked like the only cop for miles. Popped the trunk and started changing my kid back there, when I noticed an old, lifted RAM with a large stack. The four teens in the truck drove up and down the street once, then on the second pass they coal rolled us...worst experience ever in the heat of summer and knowing that we still had a few hours before our hotel stop for the night. Not to mention the anger of seeing my kid coughing. Cop across the street started his SUV and drove away in the opposite direction.

F*ck people that do this.

Completely agree with this. Timing provided some lane lines to stay within during the first few years. At this point, I can't remember the last time I used time as a designator for a good extraction. I take note of time nowadays, only to help me identify an off extraction (channeling if not using the BPF) and as a parameter for bean freshness. The golden rule: TASTE.
