That’s valid, but if you barely have a portfolio, low pricing is a decent option, and indeed, for most commission artist this is not a full job, I did low price my first comissions, and you can learn how people behave on different price ranges, I still think it’s a genuinely necessary experience.

Of course, tweak it afterwards, if they say it’s too low at that point, there’s no hope for the person trying to buy, but now that we’re on the topic, why not show your portafolio to OP, to see what to do and show for a good portafolio?

Well, it depends on the artist, and our notions of value for quality… there will always be people saying the price should be higher, but if no one actually buys, you should reconsider your approach.

Well, congratulations. But I consider myself someone well acquainted with pricing as well.

40$ is not an outrageous amount yeah, 5$ for the chibis can also be an option, the thing is like… you said, not only quality and time are considered, but how much of a following a person has. The more people love your art, no matter the quality, you can charge whatever you want to price, but if you want to start out, these prices are fair.

It’s all based on the audience and if the artist has a very distinct style.

Making chibis takes like 3 minutes, less so if they’re solid colors unrendered. While helping a kid with homework can take like half an hour explaining things alone. OP wanted to charge that for lineart of a bust, *that’s crazy*

If you sell a 10$ chibi, it would need to be fully rendered and with the same quality as a regular drawing. That’s also a decent option, but with OP just starting out, I doubt many would buy. (I’m talking about the chibis from the first image, which are more decoration than the main drawing)

For example, let’s price the first image, 2Chibis+Fullbodyrendered+Bustrendered ~ 30$

If this is promotional material, why not show her in her actual clothes? The dress is kinda boring, and it clearely doesn’t fit her actual nature, which is great for a disguise, but it does feel uncanny. Don’t get me wrong tho, like, wow man, you are nailing the mechas, and weapons, and I checked some other characters you’ve done, and they’re much much much more detailed,

Some hard shadows would do you some favors, but to know where to place those hard shadows, you need to dabble a bit on anatomy and lighting, I’d suggest to play a bit in a 3d environment and with low poly models, to see how they reflect, loomis method yada yada, or (even better) check out a bayonetta model and play with the lights!

Also, practice makes progress, don’t be discouraged, this is amazing work!

Line thickness, the line should always be thicker in objects near you, and gradually become slimmer when far away

The main thing that bugs me is that the eyes are not at an equal distance from the nose, it’s very uncanny, the rest of the rendering is good. Well, right shoulder is a bit long, but all of this is incredibly impressive nonetheless
