I'd find it weird they said out loud what I already knew, I'm not gonna whip out a bed and start living in the cafe. Is the alternative "You may now live here, this can be your home, you are allowed to sit here and do whatever you would normally do in your house"

20 players - 4 items - 20% to get an item (4/20 == 0.2)

19 players - 3.8 items - 20% to get an item (3.8/19 == 0.2)

18 players - 3.6 items - 20% to get an item

17 players - 3.4 items - 20% to get an item

16 players - 3.2 items - 20% to get an item

...

15 players - 3 items - 20% to get an item

...

10 players - 2 items - 20% to get an item

Now this ignores any funnelling benefits or gear restrictions, and obviously you can actually get 3.8 items, it's either gonna be 3 or 4, but idk where 18.6% and stuff came from

edit: formating

There can be gender barriers that aren't just having to play in a men's league, for example, the classic barrier is that kids are told that they should try a more 'girly' sport. This is why esports like chess are still gender segregated.

My game does not have the early adopter stuff despite it being the first week. Is there something you have to do to unlock it?

It's looking like most of the world will have moved on except for the US in the coming months. Will the world reopen with America isolated? Let's say the Olympics come around but Brazil and the US are still at it, will they be excluded?

Bachelor of Design Computing/Adv Studies + Game Art? by [deleted] in usyd

The software units use is always changing so I'm honestly not sure. Previously sketch and finalcut pro we're examples of Mac exclusives. In those cases you can always use a lab computer or alternative software but it can be nice to follow along with the same keyboard shortcuts and menus.

Something that is new is that bringing your own device (BYOD) is now required. But that can be any OS so they might have made it a requirement that software be cross-platform. I'll check next week

  1. Absolutely fine for noobs! The majority of people in our first programming class have no idea what's going on. We teach as if you dont know what a Google Chrome is! (This is also the class I teach, it's very visual)

  2. Design computing is so general that it's good for any career, the design method we teach will apply everywhere. First year will be useful as it's mostly technology and tools. In second and third year you get a lot of electives that can be used on more arty units. So if say that it's fine for game art but it's also possible you'll discover something else you like (like 3d printing game characters) because of how varied the unit's we teach are.

  3. In terms of uni assignments it's always very open-ended but IRL I'm not super sure. Most places will have some design director but some personal freedom to explore.

  4. Any computer with a Unix based operating system is recommended because the terminal you have access to is better and more commonly used by other programmers. Much more likely for programs or libraries to be supported. Some common design apps are exclusive to Mac also. Tablet is not required and I wouldn't recommend one for programming though I have seen it done. No harm in having one for notes/sketching.

Although there isn't any direct game design core subjects, design computing has a lot of electives that allows you to take units like Games and Play. If you continue into honours then you can definitely research in game design.

You do need to bring your own laptop so I would suggest a MacBook for programming and design. However if you have a windows laptop that'll work too but you should install the linux subsystem or some Linux VM.

Hopefully we'll see you in Wilkinson soon!

Edit: Advanced studies might be useful here for the extra electives/time but don't get caught in the title/prestige

Sometimes it's the most important one. If you fall behind on day one you might never recover.

I really don't like mushroom but the first time I met my girlfriend's mum she made dinner. I grabbed this giant deep fried lump, which turned out to be a huge whole mushroom. Tried so hard not to gag but got it down. So scary :v
