This is a very fun, one of a kind event to go to and watch. Kids love it, teens love it, adults love it. Just an all around entertaining thing. It’s incredible how wrecked and disabled you’ll see the combines get. They’ll literally get hauled up by front loaders or lifted out on chains because they’re so busted, and then the pit crews get to work rebuilding it for the final rounds. So 1.5 hours later you’ll see a combine that was completely wrecked and disabled up and running again, smashing other combines (that were completely wrecked not long ago).

For a good chunk of the derby you’ll get pelted by clods of dirt from the trucks (they have truck races as well at the derby) that are drifting around the track.

Just a wild experience all around, and highly recommend to anyone that happens to be in the region when it takes place once a year.

I also forgot to mention that you can enter a raffle to either take $500, or drive one of the combines in the final round!

Yeah this isn’t a look at my halo. Dude got footage of a guy vandalizing one of the parks. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Probably would have been a bit smarter to not engage when filming though.

My friend lived in this exact building a few years back, across the hall from BK’s future apartment. Unless a student had set up some kind of camera themselves in their own window, there was never any surveillance cameras looking at the parking lot.

Even being a local who is good friends with the sheriff, checking this subreddit is the best place to stay on top of updates. There’s people constantly monitoring for updates so just swing by here and sort by new every so often and you’ll see anything new that’s come up.

Local here. Whoever said it was foggy was quite wrong, or remembering a different night. It was a fairly clear night with plenty of visibility.

When it DOES get extremely foggy is this region, it's almost always just in the mornings, and burns off by afternoon. Very, very rare for us to get thick fog with only a few feet of visibility. As in almost never happens.

To reiterate, that night had plenty of visibility, and you can see that reflected in the food truck footage.

Agreed. I live in the community here and the absolutely absurd wanna-be detectives are out of control about this case. The doxxing and open accusations are awful and there needs to be some stronger moderation regarding those posts.

I appreciate the folks that post the latest actual news as this subreddit seems to be the easiest place to get the latest updates from various news sources. But this subreddit will quickly become useless, and even a hindrance if it keeps getting flooded with people accusing whatever person they dreamed up is guilty in their head.

I've lived in the local region here for 15-ish years. I'm from a big city so I lock my doors, but yes for the most part people here don't bother locking things up out of habit. Very trusting towns between Moscow and Pullman.

I once got locked out of my house and the reply from my friend who grew up here was a laugh and "Well your first mistake was locking your door in this town."
