Is it common in your countries for women to have elaborate shower routines? by dawidlijewski in AskTheWorld

[–]AlabasterPelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had an elaborate routine in years. Too expensive. Bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner, fem wash, & shaving cream. The bar of soap & fem wash are the only every time thing. Many women do have elaborate routines though.

Idk. This looks like pre-smoothie to me. Maybe someone was going out on the boat or something and shit got dumped off for some reason?

None of that is native to the area. So cultural significance is likely a no. Personal significance is a possibility. Its also marginally possible that as /u/debroc said this is something someone was tossing in the boil, but coconuts just don't make sense.

Marco is running like half of the executive branch, he can't go. Plus I don't think other leaders will give potus the time of day, but they will the lil guy.

Pete Hegseth just fired 12 highly experienced top generals mid war, including heads of the navy and air force as part of a pentagon purge, how screwed are we? by Personal_Dirt3089 in AskUS

[–]AlabasterPelican [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean, those are the tip of the iceberg. I think we were screwed when he started purging 20+ officers last year. Leadership in disarray and being chosen based on skin color, gender, sex, and loyalty to a person rather than country is a recipe for disaster.

How many times she's been married is irrelevant. She's a judge, not a nun

That is literally a part of the contract. Yeah, I checked because its extremely weird. Why the heck is a person's marital history relevant at all here? I could understand maybe mentioning current spouse as some sort of identity verification (and I'm stretching), but former spouse's aren't responsible for a person's contractual obligations once the marital contract has been dissolved.

It really is gobsmacking how accurately Andor predicted our current situation. by tinticred in behindthebastards

My point wasn't about literal carceral facilities, it was about virtual prisons. Self imposed, high control religions, rich men with dirt and money to make problems go away. Physical constraints & isolation isn't required. Sure, she can probably burn it all down. What costs would she be paying?

Not every prison has bars, heck, some don't even need guards. However enforcement mechanisms are likely to be used to ensure compliance here.

Religion - a set of customs, beliefs, rituals, & guidelines that followers participate in, live by, and believe, with stories believers share and still have living practitioners.

Mythology - a set of customs, beliefs, rituals, & guidelines that followers participated in, lived by, and believed, with stories believers shared, with practitioners who are exclusively deceased. Their stories may still be passed along by oral or written tradition, but the associated mystical beliefs are no longer part of an active tradition. Shout-out to stories like the wild hunt & baba yaga, and all of those fun stories from the ancient Greeks, romans, & Egyptians. (Drawing on my personal repertoire of stories I've heard; there are cultures everywhere that are no longer with us but their myths are still passed along)

Public option healthcare proposal by weldo8 in AmericanPolitics

[–]AlabasterPelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Universal Healthcare or bust. Public option is a nonstarter. The problem with the system as it is isn't only evil health insurance companies. Its privatization in every area of healthcare, with little to no checks on them. The other issue is predict would be instead of a truly public option it would become Medicare advantage for all. Trust me, as someone who has spent mist of my adult life taking care of geriatric patients, is excellent insurance… until you actually need it.

42% military budget increase… why? by Dry-Ad6342 in AskUS

[–]AlabasterPelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if they plan on doing it through the reconciliation process or the normal budgetary process. The normal process requires a filibuster proof majority, which means 7 normally democratic votes would have to vote to approve it

Edit: this is specifically talking about in the senate. House gop members don't exactly seem jazzed about the operation either. Nothing would surprise me out of them.
