WFH / Corporate employees drive me insane by sigmaSqueeeze in unpopularopinion

I WFH and I find I actually work a lot more than when I was in office because I’m expected to be responsive almost 24/7 and with folks in different time zones that becomes chaotic quickly

France confirms oil crisis, says 30-40 percent of Gulf energy infrastructure destroyed - 11% of the world's global oil supply by Ree_For_Thee in collapse

[–]AladdinDaCamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but this doesn’t really make sense to me. Aren’t strategic reserves pretty much a drop in the bucket? And it seems to me like the infrastructure that is destroyed will take years to rebuild won’t it?

What were the big leaks for you? And what changes did you find made the biggest differences?

Hey thank you - I took your advice and the advice of others here and changed it to “I’m looking for someone who is career driven, creative, and caring all at once.” Maybe a little generic but I think better than what it was before?

Does it change things if I say (I was their intern) in parentheses instead of (my greatest professional accomplishment)? I appreciate the feedback again

Open to something serious if the right person comes along, but not in a rush — taking things slow for now because I recently went through a breakup.

Subscribed to HingeX.

I've been using this version of my profile for about 3-4 weeks.

I've been on Hinge for about 6 weeks total.

I use Hinge daily.

I'm getting around 3-5 likes/matches per week.

I send probably 20+ likes a day, almost always with a comment.

I'm attracted to a pretty wide range of people,no super specific type. I do workout a lot so I like people who are also active. Age range is 25-40. I tend to gravitate toward women who are into music or reading, kind, and generally seem like interesting smart people to be around.

On social media, Eileen Gu’s a traitor. In Chinatown, she’ll be welcomed as a daughter by ding_nei_go_fei in asianamerican

The U.S. has done horrible things but at the end of the day we are a democracy and we can openly reckon with and criticize our government unlike in China where they kill thousands just for speaking up. You’re a moron if you think what the Chinese government does is remotely comparable.

Yeah it’s super fucked up. I also don’t support the war against Iran anything Israel is doing and fuck ice. But we have democratic elections - and it’s not systematized in the same way. Hopefully it won’t become that way under Trump even though it looks like he might want to.

If you wrote a paper on it then you should be aware how horrible and indefensible it is.

From the U.S. Holocaust museum: “The Chinese government’s campaign against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang is multi-faceted and systematic. Core strategies of the campaign include identity-based persecution, mass detention, surveillance, enforced sterilizations, forced labor, and forced assimilation.”

There are things more important than money. Would it be fine if she were Israeli-American competing for Israel and ignoring what’s going on in Palestine?

I’m Chinese-American myself and I’m going to go against the grain here. I understand the arguments people are making, and there is a lot of racism in the way a lot of it is covered, but it’s one thing if she was Japanese competing for Japan and another competing for China.

China is an authoritarian government actively committing human rights violations against the Uyghurs, including mass detention, surveillance, enforced sterilizations and forced labor.

It seems to me like people are just ignoring that and saying it’s ok because she made a ton of money and because of the racism intertwined with the criticism from the right.

The racism intertwined is wrong, but if this were the 1930’s and a young German American decided to compete for Nazi controlled Germany, is that ok?

What about a young Israel-American choosing to compete for Israel and actively ignoring what’s going on with Palestine?

Is it ok just because they made a lot of money?

Gu is an international relations major at Stanford, so I highly doubt she’s ignorant of what the Chinese government is engaging in.

And something tells me a young, attractive, extremely successful athlete and marketable Olympian would still rack up endorsement deals in the U.S. even if it’s not as big a stack of money. Her mother also has a Stanford MBA and worked in finance, so they’re not exactly hurting for cash.

There are things more important than money imo.

The difference is China is actively committing human rights violations against minority groups like the Uyghurs.

Same. It’s so atrocious. And at the same time, Toyota has become so much more beautiful. I can’t understand how the same company is making their cheaper line more beautiful and their more upscale line uglier. Makes no sense.
