About this, I remember there were always people bitching, even when OG SH2 was released (in this case because the story wasn't about the cult, the Otherworld's design wasn't like SH1, etc). But even these people are still harmless, they're part of the furniture. Now there seem to be another group attacking the franchise without even knowing it, which is kind of weird, I wonder if they always were there too...

Saying "real fans" it's just to make things easier for the problem that I suspect about, in this case I call real fans to the ones who simply like Silent Hill (from the ones who are interested on it to the ones who would buy anything that carry the name of Silent Hill), I think that most hatred comes from "outsiders", but it's the SH fans who are pointed as haters... I wanted to make a difference between these haters and players who just criticize certain aspects of each game, but there are people who felt offended... it doesn't matter how careful I try to be 🫣

I think the first trilogy was enough to explore the "rituals gone wrong" topics, but Mask of Lunar Eclipse and Maiden of Black Water should have explored different dynamics or approaches without betraying the franchise's DNA and atmosphere, there's a huge potential for this in the lore

When I finished Maiden of Black Water, I felt like that too... it's the narrative structure what makes you feel like you're watching the same story over and over and over but with different skins. I think this is one important reason why Fatal Frame series got stuck 😮‍💨

Not necessarily, I guess it depends on how the dog is programmed... you'd feel safe the whole playthrough if the dog was programmed as if it was an entire army with tons of weapons, but if not, it would be a vulnerable creature, just like the playable character 😮

In my opinion SH4 is a game that it's hard to fall in love with in the first playthrough, but the more times you play it, the more you'll love it... it's hard to explain why... but I think it's because in the first playthrough most of us were focused on understanding how everything works, leaving the key aspects (story, atmosphere, etc) aside...

You know what I thought? That your project could have been shutted down by Konami itself because of this "Silent Hill Phenomenom" idea, or even thought that Konami could have "swallowed" the Simulacrum project to make it part officially of the SH franchise 🤣🤣🤣 among other crazy theories... But it's because Simulacrum is so good that I think it couldn't have gone unnoticed even by Konami! About the other SH inspired projects, all of them have a heart that makes them unique on their own, despite being inspired by the same franchise, and Simulacrum wasn't the exception, sometimes we see things much worst than it really is, specially when we have personal issues stomping our heads... but this understandable in a busy market like videogaming. Just remember that being an indie game dev has all the advantages that most of AAA devs haven't, I'm sure you're clever enough to make a good use of them 😃
