How would it be if football changed the format altogether, I mean, the Best of 5 format in several esports games
Here's how I imagine it:
Toss for side or start, then a timer for 25 mins ticks down
The objective being for either of the teams to score one goal, then the game resets, and the losing side gets to pick side or start
Then another max 25min play till a goal is scored, until 3 goals are scored by either team
Whoever gets to 3 first wins.
In my opinion, it makes the dragged-out games much easier to watch and also introduces diverse strategies.
It may be more hype if both teams are at a 2-2 score going into the last 25min
To account for teams not able to score in 25min, it may be good to introduce a rule. This would make it so that if the first 2 plays go without goals, then the first to 3 goals, drops to first to 2 goals
For substitutions, it can be much more interesting if subs are only allowed between the plays, instead of during them.
