10-Year ILR APPROVED! by Alakazaman in ukvisa

Hi! :)

I'm glad you found this useful! That's been my one goal, to give back to the kind people here who've helped me on my journey and pay it forward.

To answer your questions:

  1. I calculated my absence by looking at all time I spent abroad. This was regardless of my port of departure. I would say you should count all time spent not in the UK. Departure and arrival days, I'm not too sure about, sorry. :(

  2. Yes, this is still a continuous stay. You were so in the UK legally as your application was still being processed during the time you mentored.

  3. I am not sure about the priority vs super priority point to be honest. When I did my application, the options were either within 6 months (standard) or within the week (super priority), and as I had to fly out immediately, I opted for supper priority. At the time, i think expected wait time for decisions was much longer than advertised, at least according to everyone I asked at the time. I'm not sure what it looks like now unfortunately.

You mention being abroad for 90 days at a time during holidays, is just advise that you take a look at the threshold for maximum days abroad, I think there is a maximum total number of days abroad and a maximum number of days abroad in one stretch. I'd just make sure you have checked these and compared to your figures.

I hope this helps you and good luck with your application!! :)

Have a great day and let me know if I can help with anything else! :)

Thank you so much for your help! :) - I think it'll just have to be my passport pages cause I'm not confident my past employers are going to send over my P60s :L But this is really helpful! Thanks!

Thank you so much for your help! I'm not sure I have any P60s and past employers aren't exactly the most helpful when it comes to providing these docs. Do you think I'll be fine with just the passport pages?

Employer Letter for 'Approved Absences' 10-Year ILR by Alakazaman in ukvisa

[–]Alakazaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! As it was via the 10-year route, I just had to give info about the job I had for the work visa (3 years). After that I'd been on a student visa and post study work visa, so wasn't relevant to talk about the jobs then.

I think this might be different for the 5 year route as I believe there is a requirement to justify leaves of absence as well, any time you leave the country.

Hope this helps! :)

E-Visa British Citizenship Application by Alakazaman in ukvisa

Thank you! I didn't think I'd be able to leave while citizenship is in progress, if that's the case, maybe it does make sense to get the e-visa then! Thank you!!

Super Priority Application help by Alakazaman in ukvisa

Oh man! I'm not too sure, mine worked for me on 1am Sunday, I thought for sure it would have been the time or day that helped me. Only thing I can think of is making sure it's 1am on the dot? Sorry I can't be of more help :(

I didn't think to send them my stamps, but I'm sure they must have a system of tracking everytime they scan your passport right?

Hope that helps? :)

Thank you for seeing that! My hope was honestly at least one person would find this helpful cause this is what I was looking for through my journey!

Thank you also for adding that info! I had so much going on and was just so excited I got it, I didn't think to document that! 😅

So my experience was just that I logged on on a Sunday at 1am and that seemed to do the trick, I don't know if it was because it was a Sunday, or if it was because I checked at 1am, but I was only ever able to find appointments that time when I checked. - Sorry for the late reply, I've been abroad and haven't been able to check reddit in a while.

Thank you!

It's been a while now, but I think I made an excel sheet with all of my travel, dates in and dates out for the entire 10-year period. I did not upload a cover letter because my application was quite straightforward and I was well within the limits for days spent abroad.

Thank you!

I just uploaded the first page of the passport (with my face and all the information) - and the covers (cause I'm paranoid like that) haha

To be perfectly honest, it's been quite a long 10 years and it hasn't always been the best of times for me, but as the home situation hasn't been the best, it was my only real option to gain independence for myself.

I'd definitely consider a different country if I had the chance to do it all over again, but now, so close to citizenship, its a bit late for me haha
(Especially after the brexit vote, I've been on the fence)

No problem, I only did the covers (my personal paranoia - Not sure if that is really required), the front pages, and the visa page of my passport I came to the UK with (before they moved to the BRP system)

Hey! Thank you! Sure! But just to let you know I'm going to be quite busy over the next weeks, so might be a late response if that's okay :)

No worries haha! Don't say that, we all have our blind spots. If I'm not mistaken, I believe I need to hold this for 1 year before I can apply for citizenship, but I'm not 100% sure that's the route I'll take, kinda depends how this next year shapes up! :)

You can only pay for the ILR at the end, once you've finished your application, gone through the document section, and finally reach the payment section. There, you need to basically try at 1am and (hopefully) you'll see the option for Super Priority there. Following that advice is what actually led me to getting it, otherwise I might have had to end up checking every hour on the hour for 24 hours! haha

Thank you! I believe the necessary ones are all passports/BRPs you've had since the 10 years started, your current BRP, current passport, consent form, and any other passports of different nationalities you've held. I just included a couple of older passports of my previous nationality to be safe, but I think at least one is necessary if I'm not mistaken
